I don't understand why are FPs called revisers? And why do they have a poor perception of themselves?
They are called reviser because Ji+Pe together create an effect of ever revising information. Pe explores, while Ji formulates, which brings constant information that demands constant formulation, leading to a never ending definitional process. Pe exploration is also about exploring other alternatives of said definitions, which leads to constant reevalution of Ji formulation, while Ji being always in a seek of the "Truest" formulation, it will constantly challenge said possibilities to see if it attained the indisputable core of the given things.
For the poor perception of self, it depends. It's not a given, but what can weaken that self perception is because of this constant revision. The sense of self is always revised, so the core identity is frequently shaken. While it makes up for egotic rigidities by always reviewing the problems, it also never allows to have a stable sense of self. It can create the feeling of never really being correct, enough or never feeling "true" to the self since the self is never fully grasped and constantly revised.
Tho, I will emphasize that this poor self perception is not an "xxFP" thing, it depends on other factors, such as ennegram and the development levels.
I hope it answered your questions, if it's still not clear don't hesitate to ask for clarifications.

I have a hard time telling the thinking types apart when they don't fit the stereotypes. How do you differentiate between Ti/Fe and Te/Fi?
The main difference lies in Ji vs Je.
Ji: Internal compass. Perfectionist, getting to the essence of things (Essentialist). Deconstruct until it finds what cannot be separated from the object as it wouldn't be the object anymore. Subjective procedure.
High Ji revises information continuously (Ji x Pe ; reviser). Prefer to leave it open, but when Ji is lead, there is a need for a delineation of the object. It needs to get at the core of the inspected object, and explore (x Pe) the areas around in order to better determine what makes the object the object.
Je: Articulator, wants to articulate the information fluidly. Proactive, utilitarian mindset (Practical). Act on things, give a direction and work with the already known ( x Pi). Interested in causality, getting from A to B to C. Objective procedure.
High Je conducts information into desired directions (Je + Pi ; conductor). It prefers to find conclusions to a process than leave it open freely. Je leads also need to delineate, but not the object itself and more so the use of the object, in order to know what can be done with it.
Te can be more steamrolly, while Ti can be more nit picky. Since Te comes with Fi, they tend to let loose on how they feel about information, in the sense they are not much coordinated in how to share their view. It gives them an unpolished and unapologetic approach in how they give their thoughts, thus the steamroll-ish effect at times. Due to the conductor nature, the information they gave you is "how it works, whether you like it or not", so there isn't much room for discussion unless you're ready to get into a hectic debate. While Ti, even when Fe is low, is much more concerned into how they give information. Directive Ti types might be more brute as well, but they will be more willing to discuss the topic and disagreement, as Fe is still a gauge to measure how they hit the essence of the matter or not, and because of the reviser nature. They'll readily debate, but they are much more dispassionate due to Ti's nature and their desire to get to the pure core of the object.
So, quickly, that's what can distinguish both. There would be more probably, but that's the main points.
