Y'all know Horrortale, by Sour Apple Studios? It's a really good story. And it's still ongoing. (Albeit on Patreon for now)
Aliza, the human in Horrortale, is a pretty frail and weak child. She can't really do much to keep herself alive without just retrying and making a better decision. She's stuck in a world that wants her dead, and the only reason she's alive is because she can try again and again.
So, that got me thinking. What would a reverse horror Horrortale be like?
I imagine the premise would likely be very similar, post-neutral, dystopian underground, same kinda stuff.
But the human cannot load, only reset. And hasn't eaten since the day before they fell into the underground.
A human dies quite often in Horrortale, and there's no shortcut for this one, no load, no save point. Just a reset.
Every.
Single.
Time.
And if there's one thing I know that happens to a human who suffers, it's that they get desperate.
They lose their restraints, and their impulses become harder to ignore.
The hunger gnaws every time they wake up, the need to eat something, the desperation to act.
* Their PATIENCE falters.
* Their PERSEVERANCE twists sickeningly.
* Their ENDURANCE cracks under the weight of their NEEDS.
* They become filled with DEPRAVITY.

Cryptid Laboratory : Page 16
Finally got around to finishing this with the help of @ongio.bsky.social and @gazhior.bsky.social :P Gonna try to be more consistent as I've got my affairs in order. Reposts/likes would be appreciated :P #horror #horrorcommunity #cryptidlaboratory #horrorcomic
"I hope she made lots of spaghetti!"
For everyone who ever wanted to BE the monster, Carrion is the perfect game! I fell in love with this worm pile the moment he bit someone in half.
Stages of playing Carrion from my perspective:
Stage 1: Murder everything. I am the monster.
Stage 2: I don't really need to kill and eat the unarmed humans unless I've lost health. I'll leave them around as Screaming medkits.
Stage 3: It gets lonely backtracking to areas where I previously murdered everything. I'll only kill the unarmed humans if I'm low on health. Guys with weapons will die for safety reasons.
Stage 4: I'm sorry, human I crushed accidentally. I'm a large mass of meat, teeth and tentacles. I will move carefully to prevent the lost of more live- WILL YOU STOP SHOOTING ME GUYS! I'M TRYING TO MOURE TOM'S PASSING!
Stage 5: (lifts last human on to safe ground) Okay, now you're all safe while I kill the dangerous morons with guns. Anne, would you kindly stop trying to climb down the ladder. I'm trying to keep you alive.
Stage 6 (Last Part): Hello Fellow Humans.
Even if it's a reverse horror game, I will eventually find some way to not to be an horrific monster without thinking about it. I might as well start again and try not to kill anyone unless I have to.
