🎮✨ E-ATTENDANCE MONITORING SYSTEM WITH POINT-BASED GAMIFICATION: IMPROVING DAILY ATTENDANCE CONSISTENCY AND PUNCTUALITY OF SHS STUDENTS OF CFSI MABALACAT ✨🏫
💭 The Struggle is Real!
Tired with school attendance feeling like a chore? Why not make it a game? 🎮
Ever wanted school attendance to feel less boring? Then get ready, because what we're about to introduce will surely catch your attention. Game on! 💥
😩 Reality Check…!
Let's be honest, waking up early every day in the morning feels like a chore. One may just decide to arrive late, and even consider skipping school once or twice as they think that it is acceptable and has no effect at all, especially if only done a few times.
But here’s the thing... those “few times” can add up, and before you know it, attendance eventually affects not only our grades but also participation, discipline, and motivation itself. 🤦♀️
🖥️ The Old Way Isn’t Working Anymore!
Even though technology is everywhere, many schools, including CFSI Mabalacat, still rely on manual attendance methods like roll calls, paper logs, and endless checking.
Honestly, it is time-consuming, prone to errors, and doesn’t really make students excited to show up.
Let's be real... it’s also boring! 😴
Yes, the traditional methods really helped us before, but times have changed! Don’t you think that it’s time to upgrade and make attendance something fun and exciting for the students to look forward to?
So, what if we add a little twist? ✨
Just imagine seeing your name... or even your face on leaderboards, having the highest points, badges, and the confidence to brag to your friends.
Sounds fun, right? 😎
That’s exactly what our research is about! We’re proud to introduce our study: ✨ “E-Attendance Monitoring System with Point-Based Gamification” ✨
🎯 What Makes our System Special?
It's not just a simple attendance system.
It's a system designed to turn attendance into something you’ll actually look forward to.
Every time you come to school on time, you earn points, badges, and maybe even special privileges like a Wash Day or free-time pass. 🎁
Think of it as a mini-game where consistency equals rewards. The more you show up, the higher you rank. And who doesn’t love a good leaderboard challenge? 🏅
Think of it as a way to level up your so-called ✨High School life✨, one morning at a time! 🤯
👩🏫 Teachers win too! 🤩 The system saves time, removes errors, and keeps everything organized automatically.
No more piles of attendance sheets or wasted minutes calling names.
Just quick, easy, and accurate tracking that lets everyone focus on what really matters… learning and having fun! 💡
🎯 Our goal is to make attendance interesting and help students become more punctual and consistent at Children of Fatima School Mabalacat, Inc. by blending technology, motivation, and fun. 😉
With this system, we hope to turn attendance from a boring task 😫.. into something rewarding 🏆.
It encourages responsibility, adds a bit of friendly competition, and makes every student feel recognized for their effort in showing up and giving their best.
Because in our study, showing up is the first step to leveling up. 😏
🚀 Let’s Make Attendance Fun Again!
So, what are we waiting for? It’s time to make attendance fun and exciting. 🤩
With our E-Attendance Point-Based Monitoring System, coming to school on time can earn you points, rewards, and even recognition.
Let’s start showing up not because we have to, but because we want to.
Let’s make every day count! ✨
💡 In Short…
Our research makes attendance less of a task and more of a thrill.
It builds discipline, encourages punctuality, and adds a ✨sprinkle of friendly competition✨ to every school day.
Because in our study, showing up isn’t just a responsibility, it’s a game worth playing! 🎮😌

For defectors arriving in the South, learning new words and expressions makes setting challenging. The app Univoca aims to help refugees overcome the linguistic division. To South Koreans, the northern dialect sounds dated and hard to understand, but this is not only due to a difference in accent. After the years of division, some words and phrases that North Koreans use today went out of style in the South years ago or had their meanings changed. With the globalisation of the South, there are new words that aren't present in the North.
According to Sokeel Park of the refugee support group Liberty in North Korea, LiNK, it is a culture shock for the 28,000 North Korean defectors who now live in the South.
Much of the language in the South has been influenced by the english language. South Korea is a competitive society and there is concern that if the refugees are unable to keep up, they'll become second-class citizens. That is why Jang Jong-chul of the firm Cheil Worldwide developed Unicova.
Jang said the app goes beyond what an online translation program can do and is a true South to North Korean translator. He explains his agency worked with a class of teenaged North Korean defectors to identify unknown words and relied on older refugees to come up with the best translations. Univoca allows a user to type in or take a picture of an unfamiliar word and it gives a North Korean translation. It also gives practical language help, like how to order a pizza. It also explains dating terminology South Koreans use.
A user of the app, Lee Song-ju, explains the reliability of the app is a mixed bag.
“The range of vocabulary that this app covers, the variety of words is very limited actually,” he said.
Univoca’s developers say they are still adding more words to the app’s open source database.
In recent years, the divide between the language has been improving from inside north korea. This has been achieved due to the black market, who have been able to smuggle in South Korean media.
When some South Koreans hear the way North Koreans speak, they say it sounds old fashioned or even a little strange
Shampoo or 'hair water soap'? North Korean refugees face up to a North-South language barrier.
This imagery shows the stark difference between the two countries.

These are my outcomes from our workshop with Can Yang on the 26/04/2023. I created a book out of medication boxes and medication leaflets. I bound these using a signature stitch. I really enjoyed this workshop as I have previously enjoyed experimenting with book binding using traditional materials, however, this pushed me further by using unconventional materials to create a book.
