Since it’s Men’s Mental Health Month, let’s look at what the "silent struggle" actually looks like in school.
When we talk about the pressure to look like you have everything under control, it hits differently depending on who you talk to. For guys in high school and college, the stigma around opening up isn't just about privacy. It's often tied to the expectation that you just need to suck it up, stay productive, and keep moving.
In the MentalMatters Project, we are specifically tracking how different groups handle extreme academic and life pressure.
A lot of guys fall into the pattern of completely isolating themselves, turning to doomscrolling to numb the noise, or converting anxiety into standard "grind mode" because vulnerability feels like losing. We want to collect enough data to break down these exact walls and show how common these struggles actually are behind closed doors.

please consider taking a few minutes to fill out the survey. It is 100% anonymous. No names, no emails, and zero tracking. Your data helps create a real, unfiltered picture of what student mental health looks like right now, free of judgment.
How much of your day is spent pretending you have it all together?
One of the core things I’m researching with the MentalMatters Project is performative stability. The exhausting pressure students feel to look like they are thriving academically and socially, even when they are completely burning out behind the scenes.
In our anonymous student survey, one of the questions we ask is:
“How often do you feel the need to pretend you have everything under control when you are actually struggling?”
When we feel like we’re the only ones drowning, we isolate ourselves. But the reality is that a massive percentage of the student body is playing the exact same character every single day.
If you haven't taken the survey yet, your voice is needed. It takes less than 3 minutes, it is 100% anonymous (no emails or names tracked), and it helps build a real, data-backed picture of our generation's mental health.

Let’s talk about the gap between what we’re handling and what people think we’re handling.
I’m launching the MentalMatters Project, an anonymous data initiative tracking the real, day-to-day pressures of high school life.
By a student, for students.
We all know the standard statistics, but they rarely capture the actual reality of student burnout, performative perfectionism, or why it feels impossible to balance academic success with well-being. This project is about moving past basic overused "awareness" and gathering real, actionable insights to show exactly where the system is failing us.
The survey is 100% anonymous. No names or emails collected, just honest perspectives. Whether you are dealing with academic pressure, social media anxiety, or just trying to keep it together, your voice matters.

Whether you are drowning in senior year prep, navigating college life, dealing with social media anxiety, or just trying to keep your head up, your voice is necessary for this data to be accurate.
Eventually, the goal is to package these anonymous findings into a student report to present directly to educational communities and administrators, showing them exactly where the current support systems are failing us.
(Note: This is an independent student research project for educational purposes and is not a substitute for professional mental health therapy. If you or someone you know is in crisis, contact 988.)
How to Stand Out in Research Labs and Earn Strong Recommendations #shorts
In this video, I’ll talk about how premed students can stand out in research labs by building trust with mentors through simple but important behaviors like showing up early, being prepared, and maintaining the right attitude.
Success in research labs is not just about intelligence or technical skill—it is often shaped by how you show up every day. which can lead to stronger relationships and better outcomes such as strong letters of recommendation.
