I’m sincerely obsessed with your characterization of Risotto. It speaks to me (and maybe my daddy issues.) He’s unfortunately exactly my type. Imagine someone was trying to make his darlings life difficult, a pushy suitor or a rude boss, even a family member they didn’t quite get along with. Would he murder without a second thought or try to intimidate the person? I’m eager to know your thoughts. Thank you in advance
I like to think of Mr. Nero as something of a guardian angel. Except, he isn't Michael. He's not such a bleeding heart that every poor person getting sexually harassed will be saved by him. Only you.
It's unfortunate, but he's not a vigilante.
Although it does vary given the circumstance, Risotto has no issues killing off some man following his darling down a dark alleyway. That's what he's there for. His darling won't even know they were being followed. Or, are being followed. He's still there. Other guy isn't.
Would he kill off a rude boss simply for being rude? Not really. He'd have to murder the majority of Italy if that were the case. A man his age is not quick to anger, and, really, he has no interest in smiting your enemies. He protects you. Keeps you safe. He locks your door when you forget. He shuts your blinds. He puts leftovers made by Prosciutto in the back of your fridge when you don't have any energy to cook. Nobody believes Formaggio when he says he didn't take it... (Who would? Slimy bastard tries to take it out of the pot before it's even done cooking.)
Risotto will always punish physical harm, but he chooses to just comfort emotional harm as much as he can later. He's not going to kill someone for being rude, or even mean. Although... he would kill an abuser, so I suppose it's sort of a grey area for him. It depends. It gets more complicated if it's not simple physical harm. It agitates him to see his darling mistreated, but it's not the time for him to be agitated. It's time for him to watch. Plan. Figure out what to do.
Risotto may physically be standing next to his darling, but it's not like they have any idea. The man can turn invisible for however long he wants. He's patient, like an ambush predator. What kind of predator do I think Risotto would be, specifically? I tend to think of him as very timid, but sizable animals because of his nature. Maybe just himself. I digress.
Risotto does not want to be involved in his darling's life, at least overly so. Of course, he does want to be involved, a copious amount, but he does not need you to remember his face. He's happy when his darling is happy. When they do a cute little dance because they 'forgot' they had food leftover. When they come home to a warm apartment in the middle of a snowstorm, because the thermostat has been adjusted while they've been away. When his darling thanks God, or the universe, or anything really, he gets the same feeling as if they're thanking him. Even if it's just a sigh of relief.
So, if people were to remember his face and associate it with you, that is a problem. A huge problem. You'd find out, sooner or later, and then he'd either have to stop or scoop you up. Of course, it would be much easier if he could use his presence to deter other predators from his darling's life. His size alone is a natural deterrent, but it's not so simple. You're not in the wild.
Risotto does not have many indulgences. Sure, sometimes he'll have a drink from the cabinet. Sure, sometimes he'll allow himself to sit in the living room and watch the 'kids.' (They're all in their mid twenties by now) Sure, he.. has a secret hobby of watching a stranger's every move. It's quite possible that this is the first time Risotto has indulged in a few decades. Not since his early twenties, at least. It's somewhat nostalgic. Being in love. He feels alive when he sees his darling merely being themself.
So, he's not going to ruin it until something forces his hand. Threats are... well, for men much younger. Maybe you'll understand when you're his age.
