So, we can say that we are not planning to change this and remove the reply button. But we are aware that the post footer is crowded, and we might make modifications in the post footer in the future.

It can also be said that we will be experimenting with post footer changes, and hope to update you with the results of these as we can. But the reply option will be staying where it is. We will, of course, keep you posted with all the latest updates here or at @changes

Again, I really, really hate how tumblr took away the reply bubble button. 

When I see my mutual on tumblr post something, sometimes I want to respond to it so that only that friend (and inevitably, their followers or anyone who might stumble upon that post later) can see. I don’t want to publish their stuff on my blog just because I want to say something on it.

Like, some stuff they post are quite personal. For some of them, I feel close to them enough to want to give them my opinion. But however close I feel, it doesn’t feel right to use the reblog button to comment and at the same time expose that “personal” post to my followers. 

The reply bubble was like a way for me to say something softly to them and only the people in the vicinity can overhear it. Reblogging is like I’m responding to them with a megaphone.  

Without reply bubble button, if and when my friend complains that they have ripped their pants, I now can no longer comment in a whisper. Instead, I would be shouting “OMG You ripped your pants, I’m sorry to hear that. Pat pat to you. Oh and while I’m offering a condolence to you, let’s also make other 150 people who are strangers to you hear this as well!!” (When 150 represents my own followers who are not the friend’s followers.)
