A shiver ran tauntingly up her spine when she sensed the other girl so close; gently, a sigh fell between her lips as she stared hopeless and intent at the pages laid out before her, convinced that if she avoided Lydiaās gaze she would be safe from any emotional distress. Maybe she could bear through this if she kept to mumbles and grunts. Ignorance was her only friend in this situation. The only crutch that would suffice, endure this struggle. The blonde didnāt know how her chest still ached for her, desperate for a bit of attention. And for each soft breath exhaled by the smaller, angelic girl, Rose grew weaker. Their proximity was maddening.
The moment Lydia muttered a sweet and gentle, āheyā, Rose knew that she couldnāt bear this for long. Her usual steady hands shook as she tried to choke out a reply; and to fight back the gentle tremors, the tall girl clutched at her book, lips pursed and heart swollen. Maybe a short conversation wouldnāt be too difficult. If she kept her hands where they were there would be no difficulty enduring it all. She just couldnāt let Lydia see; she wouldnāt let Lydia see.
With her best attempt to ignore every impulse that blistered through her, Rose clapped her book shut and pushed it to her side with the tips of slender fingers. Looking at Lydia, her eyes filled with the emotion that her stern facial expression concealed. To try and mask the facade further, the tall beauty smiled gently, her mouth quirked sideways as she grinned charmingly and nodded her head at the blonde, showing that she acknowledged her presence. āAnd to what do I owe the honor?ā she questioned, her voice husky and low as a gust of wind blew past, ghosting against her shoulders and softly tousling her hair. āCan I help you with something? Are you simply looking for somebody to talk to? Or have you sought me out specifically?ā Roseās tone dripped with question as she cocked a brow and glanced to her side.
