Maggie’s Service
So there was always the possibility that the live steam would not go well. I had a friend of Maggie’s Whats App me some of it, so I at least got to hear Ereka’s speech (and cry through it, and smile through it)
There were ‘what would maggie do’ badges and there was such a long line of people. They printed out some of her art work I choose for her. They had my favourite photo of her with Sugar in his little doggy graduation cap. To my surprise, they read out my eulogy for her. I cried.
I also saw her Urn. It’s pink and blue and beautiful and so extra. It’s very Maggie.
There was so much laughter and a lot of cyndi lauper which my boyfriend grinned at a lot. (A boyfriend who has looked after me this week despite being very sick.)
Maggie would have loved the service. And bawled her eyes out.
It still hurts, and will do for a long time. But she’s at rest now and the people important to her got to say what they wanted to say.
So in light of ‘what would maggie do’ I’m going to pick myself up and carry on.
Those were some of the best 6 years of my life, Maggie. I’ll never forget you.
Love the bones of you Leigh ~
