๐ฆ Daily Cephalopod Fact: ๐ฆ
Caribbean Reef Squid: A phenomenon, deemed the "half-and-half" body pattern, is a body morph that occurs during interactions with other cephalopods. One half of the cephalopod's body gets darker than the typical coloration a few minutes after the interaction occurs. This color-change is also observed during the sleeping state. The extended 'quiet state' results in a pale, uniform color compared to the shorter 'active state' including varying colors, textures, and patterns.

they come in a wide variation of colours and are absolutely gorgeous. they eat molluscs, small fish and a variety of crustations.
they typically reach about 20cm (8 inches) in length in adulthood. eensy little fellas <3

The Bigfin Reef Squid, or Sepioteuthis lessoniana, otherwise known as the squid in animal crossing.
Theyโre widely distributed throughout the info-pacific. We know more about them than any other squid because they are so easy to observe! They live in shallow water, mate during the day, and eat more at night. Making them the perfect study species.
Plus theyโre so angry and cute how can you not love them? Pulling up on a dozen of these cuties out in the wild is 100% a dream Iโve had since I was a child
Reef squid-mermaids are colorful, if not unorthodox residents of the coral boulevards they inhabit, propelling(and breathing) through their breast-like siphons on their upper bodies. And that is also where squid-mermaids release their egg capsules from. Each capsule contains six squids-to-be. The capsules cluster together to form grape-like structures whose chemical components cause would-be predators to...well. Self-ectasy. Best part about squid-mermaids is their ability to signal various colors and hues...to get laid with many partners as they can, and to lay as many eggs as they can. No wonder many ecchi artists are required by law to depict squid-mermaids in their works.
