@redmagicflower : "You look terrible", there's no concern in her voice, instead looking rather pleased with the view she had stumbled upon. Beside her there's a floating basket filled with herbs and on her fingers the faint traces of dirt, still a stark difference from the looks of someone who had been spending time in the mines. "Those guys really are making you work for it, you should just give up", so she says, but if he were to do that and not remove the sealsโฆthen things would become awfully boring. "Well, if you show your admiration for me, the great Witch Princess, I might consider helping you out."
the mines aren't his favorite, he'd much rather spend his time on his farm with his animals or on the beach fishing, but he did promise to help out, and so help out he will. there's not much he has these days beyond his word. and he does like it when errol or eiland get excited by his finds, though rarely does he stick around for any full historic lectures.
all sorts of characters in this town, jon thinks, gazing at the witch from under the brim of his hat. he snorts, a short aborted noise to show his amusement. "think i'll pass." he almost drops it at that. he hasn't fully integrated himself into the town despite the favors and work he does, but that doesn't mean he can slack off. ( unsure how wise it is, despite the friendly nature of almost everyone. )
"i wouldn't be earnin' my livin' if i let someone else do my job for me." joy found the coop he built himself and the small hens it houses. the mines may provide only a fraction of the adventuring life he had previously, but it's not something he would trade off anytime soon. "'sidesโฆ i don't mind the work."
jon levels her with a look, challenging and curious. "you often buy admiration from folks?" a glance to the floating basket, to the museum nearby, and then beyond to the road to town. he steps, hiking up his pack, a few items fuller than when he went in.
a pause. he doesn't owe a conversation. doesn't owe politeness and yet. . .
he turns back; sore, tired, dirty and offers, "you headin' back home or into town? i'll walk with you."
