Addiction has many faces. While some are addicted to substances, others can't seem to let go of toxic, destructive relationships. The "need to be needed," the compulsion to "fix something or someone," is very real to some -- including me. I may have been in this journey to recovery for six years now but the feeling keeps coming back and follows me down like a shadow. Our case manager calls it the sleeping monkey that forever clings to our backs. We can't get rid of that monkey like we can't cure diabetes, but we can keep that monkey asleep for as we live. So whenever I feel that people aren't treating me the way I want to be treated I run tyi my tool box not to try to fix them but to go over my personal survival kit and keep that monkey sound asleep đđ´đ I gotta ride my bike. Sleep well, pretty monkey. #sobermom #recoverywarrior #lifeinrecovery #recoveryispossble #soberissexy #soberiscool #mentalhealth #justfortoday https://www.instagram.com/p/CEP5__ZDzLi/?igshid=1myxf3ddat3uj
