Chopper taunting Ezra by pretending that he’s successfully Force-lifted the bowl is the just the kind of asshole adorableness that makes me love him so much.

Back to the deaths and injuries count... two stormtroopers knocked over by heavy crates - probably just bruised though. They were just trying to go grocery shopping you guys!

Amazingly Zeb doesn’t get shot despite being no more than 20ft away with zero cover.

Two stormtroopers have a Lasat break his fall with their heads. Chances of broken necks/intercranial bleeding? High. 

Apparently TIEs have an external loudspeaker, which is... interesting. 

Guys... guys... his butt is a foot away from your face and you can’t hit it with a blaster? You’re terrible. 

TIE pilot is thrown a good 15ft out of the TIE. Probably injured, broken bones, maybe not dead. 

Two troopers almost hit by TIE blaster bolts. There’s a lot of Schrodinger’s deaths in this episode.

First potential civilian casualty! Rodian in a fruit stall blown up by the TIE. Well, except they make a point to show us he crawls out unscathed afterwards, but by rights he should be dead. Just sayin!

TIEs do not have windscreen wipers. Clearly a design flaw.

Why does the Empire even care about buying a farm in the first place? If its about supplies, then increase taxes, or pass laws keeping their price low. If its because the owner is unImperial, then why try buying it in the first place? If it’s about land... why do you need land? Is this a mining thing? Isn’t there some speculation in fandom about mining on Lothal?

Equally, much like the guy Ezra saved in ep 1, this is a very temporary rescue. If it’s that important to them, they will send more troopers.

I love the noise TIEs make.

I also don’t get the individual restraint cells on the sides of the transports. Do you like you give your prisoners a nice view? Stick them inside like a normal person.

Zeb is a shitty bluffer. Almost as bad as a certain Han Solo.

Sure they’re free - in the middle of nowhere with their hands still cuffed together. Amazing.

One trooper goes down to friendly fire and falls off the transport - I feel like he’s dead. I’m counting him. Episode death count: 1

“You did all this... for fruit?” That stormtrooper is having a bad day.

Total episode death count: 2 + a ton of schrodinger’s fatalities.

Arms dealers, arms redistributers... Potayto potahto. (Considering the implications of the fact that it’s canon the Rebellion had to work with pirates, smugglers and the like a lot of the time. At some point down the line, innocent people are liable to get hurt. Rebellions and guerilla wars are not clean things. They’re messy - but that’s a little too grey and complicated for a kid’s cartoon.)

Minister Tua, you couldn’t get a private transport? You’re the Governor of this damn planet aren’t you?

Also, does Lothal/Kessel not have any security cameras? Does the Empire not know what Specter’s faces look like? Descriptions? Lasat are rare and Kallus knows that - didn’t he put out some kind of alert for them? Or does he just not share with the likes of Tua.

Another question: why does Tua buy that an Imperial Academy student would be going around as the ‘ward’ of an alien. This is the Empire here! 

(I don’t want to be ragging on this show too much because I do like it... I just get picky on rewatches...)

It’s a good thing Ezra isn’t claustrophobic... And hey, crawling around in the ventilation is a Jedi thing!

Tua does work it out eventually. Eventually. 

Stormtrooper sergeant gets thrown about 10m by Zeb. Definitely would have broken something, maybe a concussion. But probably not dead.

Most of those stormtroopers survived that fight. I am amazed.

Communication Zeb, communication. I know it brings up bad memories, but the rest of the crew aren’t going to know what’s wrong unless you tell them. Except that apparently Hera at least does know... and is thinking about selling them anyway? Y’all are more mercenary than I remembered.

Does C3PO get wiped all the time? Doesn’t he remember working for Bail Organa, rather than the Empire? Perhaps only Artoo is trusted with knowing things.

I’m assuming using the disruptor on a vehicle just shuts down the vehicle, rather than also killing the crew inside. So no death points for taking down the first walker.

Kanan should be dead from that explosion. Plot armour is thick stuff! (Shh, it’s the Force)

Kallus taking every opportunity to be all ‘oh, i’m so evil’ at Zeb. In light of later episodes; just taunting then?

Disruptor explosions: 6 stormtroopers who were surrounding that sled plus the crew of the 2nd walker (2). Episode body count: 10

Also, Kallus def. broke some ribs hitting that rock after being Force-pushed. That looked like it hurt. 

Bail. BAIL. *heart-eyes*

Zeb’s attempt at Shyriiwook is hilarious.

Zeb knocks a couple of troopers out by banging their heads together. Okay he’s strong but... that’s literally what helmets exist to prevent. So my guess is they’re not out for long, but then Spectre doesn’t need long.

Ezra’s wrist-mounted thing seems to have a non-stun setting at this point - although the troopers he hits with it aren’t hit seriously enough to get anything more than minor-to-moderate burns, depending on how good that armour actually is.

Another heart shot from Kanan. Sometimes he’s a really good shot, sometimes he’s... not. Anyway, that’s another to add to the count. Murder count: 9

One of the other troopers also gets shot in the chest, and a close range, but he keeps moving afterwards so not immediately lethal. 

The transport ship is blown up after Spectre leaves so... assuming there were still some people on board that... but who knows how many that might have been? Murder count: 9+

Huh, Kallus actually has a bit of stubble in this scene, in between his sideburns. (scene where he’s speaking to ezra) Never noticed that before.

Man, those two stormtroopers must feel terrible for being taken in by the old ‘medical emergency’ ploy. Don’t both go in the cell guys! It only takes one to triage. At least the own up to it to Kallus - they must have been so relieved he was interrupted before they had to confess the whole story.

Two stormtroopers shot during Ezra’s escape and go down pretty hard. Murder count: 11+

Four stormtroopers were in the hanger with Kallus prior to Sabine’s bomb going off and opening a breach to vacuum, afterwards, the hanger is empty apart from him. Murder count: 15+

Two troopers hit by the Ghost’s cannon at the start of the Kessel assault - yeah, they’re dead. There was another guy in front of him but it looked like he dived out of the way in time. Murder count: 17+

Sabine shoots a trooper in the face: death or just maiming, uncertain which.

The wookies knock a couple of guys out, but probably not more than a lot of bruises and maybe some broken ribs. Casualties, but not fatalities.

The Ghost shoots down another TIE fighter - although it goes down into the mists so possibly the pilot would have had time to eject. (if TIEs let you eject...)

Zeb is frickin strong to carry a Wookie around in a fireman’s lift like that.

There goes another TIE... Murder count: 18+

Kanan, I know you’re being dramatic and all, and that you have plot armour, but by the simple weight of fire being put out by those troopers you should have been dead moments after getting out of cover very slowly and standing up on top of a box.

One trooper goes down to a deflected blaster shot. Murder count: 19+

Another TIE. It also looks like this one hits another on the way down so; Murder count: 21+

Trooper who falls off the catwalk. (although technically he was hanging in there until Kallus kicked him off, but I’ll count it anyway) Murder count: 22+

I really love the grasslands on Lothal. They just look so pretty.

I miss the Grand Inquisitor. He was a great villain... 

So total Imps killed by Specter in the first episode (although it is a double-length ep) = 22 at an absolute minimum, and almost certainly more than that. Yeah... they never kill anyone...
