Pac-Man on Atari 800 @setonhilluniversity discussion of Summer reading book #readyplayerone
This is one of my all time favourite films. Wade being my favourite character. I am definitely working on a ready Player one twin FF
The Terrifying Truth Hiding in Plain Sight in Ready Player One
You know that feeling when a sci-fi movie hits a little too close to home? I sat down to rewatch Ready Player One last night expecting a fun, nostalgic trip. Instead, I ended up staring at my ceiling at 3 AM, feeling a genuine shiver run down my spine.
We all get easily distracted by the DeLorean, the Iron Giant, and the awesome pop-culture mashups. But beneath all that shiny CGI, I realized this isn't just a movie. It’s a documentary about a future we are actively building.
Think about the setting: Columbus, Ohio. The physical world is an absolute disaster. People are literally living in "The Stacks"—precarious towers of scrap metal and trailers—while society collapses around them. But the terrifying part? Nobody is trying to fix the planet. Why? Because they have the OASIS.
It’s easier to be a superhero online than to clean up the streets outside.
It’s easier to buy digital mansions than to solve the real-world housing crisis.
When a digital world becomes infinitely better than physical reality, it stops being an escape. It becomes a digital anesthetic.
And that’s exactly what scares me. I look at the massive tech corporations today, pouring billions into VR, AR, and metaverse platforms. I look at them and I see IOI and Sorrento. They aren't building these digital worlds out of kindness; they are building the infrastructure of our future dependency. Are we just building a digital paradise because we’ve secretly given up on saving the real world?
I couldn't shake this feeling, so I poured all my existential dread and research into a massive deep-dive over on our main site. If you want to explore the dark philosophy behind the OASIS and what it means for the tech we use today, you can read my full breakdown here:

But before you head over there, I really need to know I'm not the only one losing sleep over this. Look out your window right now. If the real world completely collapsed tomorrow, would you fight to rebuild it, or would you just put the VR headset on and surrender to the sweet digital dream? Let me know what you would do down below!
Ready Player One Research
Watching Ready Player One, not just because it's one of my ultimate favourite films but because I'm taking notes for a FF. It's going to be hard to plan this but I'm willing to give it a shot.

Blog 22: Inspiration from Movies: Dreaming Beyond the Screen
Great stories do more than entertain they sow seeds inside us, seeds that sprout into new visions and new worlds. When I started to create Shambhala: The Ascension Protocol, I found myself pulled towards certain films that dared to dream big. Kalki 2898 AD taught me how old legends could come alive in future worlds and how belief and technology could move together on the same stage. Doctor Strange showed how magic could be emotional, human, and change people, not just look amazing. The Last Airbender reminded me that elemental powers aren't just about control; they help us connect, find balance, and know who we are.
And then Ready Player One hit the screens. This film didn't just paint a picture of the future. It showed a future where people don't run from reality but reshape it through their imagination. This insight changed everything for me. I no longer wanted Shambhala to be just another story on a screen. I wanted it to be a story that players could step into - a world where ancient myths and future dreams would clash and where the players themselves would become the core of the legend.
Inspiration matters because it gives us the green light to imagine beyond what's possible. And thanks to these groundbreaking films, I stopped thinking about boundaries. I began to think about what we could bring to life.
