Readathon wrapup! Okay, this stack is totally ridiculous. Let me quickly come clean about two things: I was already halfway through WORLD WAR Z when the readathon started, and I only read the first two chapters of KIM JIYOUNG before I gave in and went to bed. I am still very, very pleased with this stack. . . My favorite book that I completed during the readathon was absolutely I HEARD GOD LAUGHING, but then, I knew I would love it, as I have read past editions of Ladinsky’s translations of Hafiz. I wasn’t super impressed by THE UMBRELLA ACADEMY? But I kept reading them because I borrowed them from a friend, and also I kept needing breaks from all the terrorism and religious persecution in HOLY LANDS. QUEENS OF NOISE was gritty queer punk fun — a grownup Scooby Doo with trans characters, creepy magic and snogging. . . I am really into KIM JIYOUNG, BORN 1982 and will probably finish it today. . . I very loosely tracked my reading time as well for the #15in3readathon and spent about 17 hours reading. My stack was definitely designed for a 24-hour readathon, though, and not just catching up on my #readtheworld21 books, though both HOLY LANDS and I HEARD GOD LAUGHING fit both. . . Late night (bad light) wrapup for the #stayhome24in48 readathon. I finished my last book with just 6 minutes shy of 24 hours of reading, and decided to take a break and rot my brain with more passive entertainment, but not before doing a #readathonwrapup. I finished eight books! Which is lovely. Three graphic novels, two books of poetry, one non-fiction essay/travel/history and two novels. Half of my books could count for #koreanmarch. Some books I LOVED (Baby X, Uncomfortably Happy, I Know What I Am), some books I took breaks to rant to my husband and children about (Korea, the graphic novel adaptation of The Master and Margarita), and some I am still pondering. Overall, I am very pleased with my stack, but really what I am most pleased with is my husband and kids pitching in so that I could do (almost) nothing but eat, read, and sleep all weekend after feeling my entire brain was hijacked with COVID homeschooling this week. . . Readathon wrap-up! So partway through the readathon I decided to go ahead and commit and make it a #witmonth readathon and read only women in translation. So here is my final stack, though I only got about 80% of the way through Voices from Chernobyl — I will probably finish it tomorrow. So... closing survey! 📚 How would you assess your reading overall? I was pretty happy with the amount of reading that I got done, and also with my decision to sleep a normal amount since the Readathon started in the evening for me. 🛌 Did you have a stategy, and if so, did you stick to it? Kids have been in bed for a while now. I decided to wrap up my reading to fill Easter baskets and put together a quick #readathonwrapup post, and get to bed for an almost reasonable amount of sleep so I’m not too zombified for family Easter tomorrow. I finished six books, which was my goal, even though a certain book in my finished pile made me gnash my teeth and drag my reading feet as I endlessly debated just scrapping it and moving on. Not every book in every pile was finished today, but both kids got some serious reading time in and had a good time. It was nice not stopping for timed update posts, but I’m sure I’ll return to that format for the next readathon — when we go back to running it as a fundraiser. As usual I bought WAY too many snacks, but between some healthier choices and limiting how much I put out at one time, we avoiding anyone sugar bombing or getting an upset stomach this time.
