Hi my dear readers and writers! I plan to join August Readathin hosted by  ⁨@MandaTheBiblio⁩ of Bookstagram (profile) and  ⁨@donna-mariereads⁩ of BookTube (announcement video) One of the prompts is to hold a poll to pick a book to read based on one-star reviews. I have lots of choices, so I narrowed down to 10! 😄 I have listed a 1 star review per book in this poll. As part of the prompt, I have kept the book titles secret. I sampled reviews from Amazon, GoodReads, Storygraph, B & N, and Thriftbooks (keeping the reviewers anonymous). I have one hint about the secret books in the poll: They are all MG/YA award winners. They have high ratings and received acclaim, but even the best books can get 1 star reviews 🫢

The only reason I give it one star is because 0 isn't an option. Please STOP making our kids read this. Poorly written. Boring. AND The theme of the story is "No matter how hard you try, Life sucks

Normally I absolutely love these kinds of historical fiction books but I honestly thought that this is the worst that I’ve read. It’s so boring. Nothing happens.
