“Nervous?” “A little, I mean they are demigods and your uncles are still a bit spooky.” “I guess you are happy my grandfather won’t come then?” “Well… “
She chuckled, she could understand him, but she wanted him to slowly get more comfortable around all of them. He had met Chris a couple of times by now, but this was the one where he would meet them all.
“It will be fine, they all love to play games, so I think that will be common ground.”
He nodded, still a bit nervous, but he was curious to meet them all, and he had already been accepted at his new job, so he was looking forwards to that as well.
The smell of cake filled the house alongside the doorbell going off and people arriving to celebrate their birthdays.
“So this is the first time?” “Yeah, it feels a little odd, and somewhat nice all at the same time.
He soon got to understand that a birthday was something that meant a lot of cake, a lot of talk, presents, people all over the place, and the fact that that part of her family he had been nervous about really had been nothing to worry about at all. Apart from looking different, they were much like him and Rae.
“So you guys went to school with like every other kid on the island.” “Pretty much, will be interesting to see what they think now though” “Oh?” “Yeah, seems our parents genes didn’t really kick in until now... horns and all.”
Unlike Hayle, neither off them seemed to be able to take on a normal human form. On the other hand, the people on the island had accepted Hayle as he was, so they were fairly sure they would accept the kids as well.
"So what is the plan now?" "Well, I got a job, and we decided to live her with my parents, I guess that is as far as we have gotten on any plans."
Hayle smiled, it was odd how quickly kids grew up, and what he had to remember was that unlike his own kids, and his husband and him, Rae would not be with them forever.
"How does it feel to have teenagers?" "Not actually sure. Should I worry?" "Do you think they will get into all kinds of trouble?" "I hope not, they have been good with controlling their powers since their two little accidents."
She remembered that rather chilling experience, but she had been cold but unharmed unlike her uncle who had taken the blunt force off two fireballs
"Their uncle still teaching them?" "Yep, he said he would keep on training them for as long as they want to." "I think he just likes having them there. They as you said, control their powers just fine." "Hmh, my brother was never the... family type." "Maybe they changed that, or maybe he has always been but never been able to show it. He is a god after all."
He had to admit the thought had never crossed his mind. He did after all allow them to call him uncle Kagu, which he was sure would mean extra crispy for anyone else.
