My card today is the shadow- the place we don’t want to look. A friend of mine who has been hoping to soften and open her heart recently had success but it wasn’t through any Lovy dovy stuff. It happened when she admitted aloud to herself and a caring witness some harsh thoughts which had been looping in her mind. Her friend congratulated her on the beauty of going deep and releasing the mindless loop of guilt and shame. And like that, she was free of those thoughts and able to love herself again! The biggest gift we can give ourselves is to have the courage and faith to go into that deep cellar of our unconscious with the flashlight of compassion and the willingness to consider we have it all wrong especially our judgements of ourselves and of others. So I’m asking now, today for the willingness to hear what thoughts I’m thinking which are unkind and to consider that perhaps they are not true- maybe something beautiful is!
