Blue and her Raven Boys -- oh how I love them even more in this reread 💕 As always, I adore Blue for her eccentricity and sensibility (she hates the description, but she just is very sensible! ;D I love how she just fit right with the four of them -- Gansey, Adam, Roan, and Noah -- the Gangsey. 💜 Gansey, what a delicate soul, I adore him for the way he cares for his friends. There's also this part of him that is sometimes way too careful (mostly of what he says) to avoid unintentionally hurting his friends -- though I love the way he speaks, actually, really eloquent . Adam, dear, I am so soft for Adam. I mean, I just want to hug him. His character carries so much baggage, my heart aches! I cannot wait to see more of him on the next books. Ronan, for all his rough exterior and devilish handsomeness, is actually sooooft and just fiercely protective! I mean did you see how he cared for Chainsaw? Gosh, I love Ronan Lynch and I am so excited for Dream Thieves because there's more of him!!! And, darling, Noah. He's pretty much always just in the background but having him in the circle simply completes it. I love the way he acts toward Blue, especially how he pats her head like a dear little sister. . . ok it’s been a few weeks since I finished my reread but based on my notes, here’s some stuff. light spoilers for later books.

TOP 3 OBSERVATIONS
Part of Blue’s thing in this novel is realizing that the adults in her life don’t have all the answers. She asks Calla’s advice about whether she should confide in the boys, admitting that she thinks Calla, as an adult, should know better than Blue what’s the right choice, but Calla turns it back on her: “what I think is that you’ve already made up your mind.” Parental authority doesn’t really work in this book-- it’s so foreign to Blue that she just ignores it and does her own thing anyway.
I can’t get over the way Ronan and Adam are each willing to do for each other what they won’t do for themselves. Gansey worries that Ronan will “learn to live in the dirt” and he does, hating himself so much and so instinctively that he doesn’t know he’s doing it, but at a critical moment he can’t let Adam live in the dirt anymore. He can’t resist stepping in and fighting Robert Parrish. And to keep Ronan out of jail, Adam sacrifices his own independence, what he was never willing to do on his own behalf. These boys.
Gansey’s insistence on there being a right way to awaken the line, and his distress at Adam’s choice, remind me of that story of Glendower he describes in TDT that makes him uncomfortable, the one where Glendower is less-than-noble. As readers we don’t know about that story yet, but I feel like Gansey was certainly thinking about it.

I wonder if Neeve was calm just because she knew Whelk couldn’t make the ritual work, or if she also knew that a) Maura et al messing with mirrors would allow her to escape, b) Adam could work the ritual, or c) both
did Ronan see the vision of Blue & Gansey in the tree, or did he see something else entirely?
