Screencapping is a great service to all of us! And thumbs up for highlighting how very nice and not actually crappy Eddie's apartment is. Mine isn't as nice. It's not that it's uncomfortable but, like, I still haven't bothered to have proper lamps instead of just ceiling lightbulbs, despite living in it for many years. Choosing lamps seems just a lot of effort for little gain.

I think there’s only one overhead light fixture in the center of the studio, so it does make sense to have lamps in all different places so that he can kind of create a sense of separate spaces in the apartment with just lighting--if it’s dark everywhere but at his desk, he’s closed up in his office, if it’s dark everywhere but the couch, he’s focused on relaxing, etc. 

(And I mean, presumably the main reason for all the lamps is that it’s an actual enclosed stage set where it’s difficult to get full lighting rigs in and they wanted to supply lots of light for shooting in a relatively unobtrusive way.)
