Nico buying an old Nintendo DS while thrift shopping. Being the precious bean that he is, he shares it with Finn so that he can play with it while Nico is working.

Nico only has a few games, including Nintendogs.

Feeling somewhat embarrassed, Nico shows Finn "his" dog — a husky that he named "Alex" because it reminds him of Alexander for some reason. Nico encourages Finn to adopt a second dog, which Finn names after Avery.

It's their new little secret, and it makes them giggle every time they talk about it.

Also, meet Sebastian! The character who's never gonna make an appearance again so I decided to give him a backstory for the irony of it!

Sebastian was living happily with his parents in the countryside. Kind people, and although poor they always made sure to do anything they could to make their little boy's future brighter. Sebastian was the kind of boy who would care deeply for the farm animals. His favourite was a chicken named Duck. He would always feed him the tastiest seeds right before he went to school.

He lived in the countryside and the road to school was a long walk. Even if he took shortcuts through the woods, he would come back home in the evening. But even if tired from the long trip he'd always find time to see to each animal and pet each single one. Duck would get two pets obviously.

On the way to and from the school he'd carefully watch his surroundings. He always managed to spot some squirrels jumping from branch to branch, see a woodpecker hit a tree trunk with its beak, and sometimes he would even spot a shy little fawn quietly observing behind the bushes.

But one day, as he was making his way back home, the woods fell silent. As if death came for a visit and every soul hid from its grasp. It was a very uncomfortable walk. No sight of squirrels jumping around, no woodpecker to break the silence, even the fawn was too shy to lift his head above bushes.

And then, he saw it. Or, to be precise, he didn't see anything. The path opened to an empty, charcoaled field. The entire village, once alive and full of kind smiles, were nowhere to be seen. Just a dark field covered with burnt grass. No sight of any buildings nor people. As if the land had always been unhabitable.

His heart felt heavy, his legs gave in. The grief didn't creep up - it hit like a thunder. He fell to his knees, sobbing and covering his face in his small palms.

But in the darkness he felt something. A little peck on his thigh. And then little claws trying to lift the small creature on his leg. He lowered his hands and he saw the only resident left. He saw his favourite Duck, clearly distressed and looking for comfort.

He lifted the chicken to his chest and holding it tightly he tried to get up. One leg, then the other and he was standing straight on his two feet, looking over the smoked grass field, with Duck in his hands and a wish to find out what happened that fateful day.

Years later and now we’re both grumpy adults that just want to be left alone to paint and relax with our pets at our sides.
