Now that Sideswipe’s kind of trapped in the med bay indefinitely-
-and has time to actually look at his four, teeny roommates (from the safety of a couple of feet away without having to worry about fucking up while holding one)-
-he can’t help but notice that they’re all pretty cute.
Certainly in a unique way that is very, very different from anything he’s run into before but, ya know. Different wasn’t bad. Different was different. Maybe it took a click or two to process, but there was wonder in unique things. In new things.
New things had potential.
It helps that the initial shock of suddenly getting four times the amount of babies that Sideswipe should ever be in charge of has passed some. Now that everyone else in the Ark is kinda handling things, he doesn’t have much to do but wait.
So he ends up watching them.
They’re tiny. So impossibly tiny. But not in the sturdy kind of compact way that Bee or Cliffjumper are. There’s a seeming fragility to their little bodies despite the odd, malleable give of their frames. They’re made of something warm, and almost mercurial, and their small forms are fairly indistinct.
It’s the darnedest thing though. It’s almost as if they’re gaining more definition by the hour. Like some invisible artist is shaping their frames little by little. Carving out the potential of these almost completely blank shapes. What was that human phrase for it...?
They were gaining character. Little nubs were starting to look more limb like.
Scrambles almost looks like the stumpiest nubs of digits are forming at the ends of their arms. Arms? Probably arms. Maybe hands were on the horizon for the little dude.
Coffee is still agitating, though. More so than the others. In a way that does not look comfortable. Maybe that’s just how the growing happens? Maybe they’re growing faster than the others. It happens in growing Earth children right? Some stretch out quicker than others. Maybe growing pains is a thing.
What an odd thing to grow.
