WIP meme: Hair Brained :D
Cultural exploration through hair and the fact that Zuko gets quite an unruly mop by the end of the show. Can be read as pre-relationship zukka or gen, but I just thought the boys taking about themselves while connecting similarities would be cute
Sitting on the beach, wiggling his toes in the cool, wet sand, Sokka cast another side-long glance at their fire bender and-- yep, there. He did it again. Zuko raked a hand through his hair, pushing it up and back, only for it to fall forward a few moments later. He absently puffed away a strand that tried to cover his good eye. He must have gone swimming recently, because it seemed exceptionally fluffy and unruly right at the moment. Sokka was struck with a wild urge to scratch Zuko’s scalp and see if his hair really was as soft as it looked. After about the third time in as many minutes that Zuko attempted and failed to discreetly brush his hair away, Sokka finally couldn't keep quiet. "Why don't you do something about that?" Zuko turned and blinked quizzically, so Sokka gestured at his own head to illustrate. "It's obviously bothering you." That earned him a frown. Not angry, just thoughtful, though the scar tended to make every expression a little more aggressive. "It's fine," Zuko told him, which Sokka had figured out pretty quickly rarely meant Zuko was actually fine, just that he was uncomfortable being the focus of attention. Time for a change in tactics, then. Sokka switched from directness, to gentle teasing. "Yeah, I guess it's kind of cute how you keep shaking your head like a shedding moose yak." "I do not!" Oh, there was a scowl. At least he was pointing it at the sand and not at Sokka.
