chapter 1 ( welcome to my cage ) : born in lewisham, a borough of london, rafe grew up not knowing there was anything else than hustling and just getting by. his family was tight-knit, two brothers, their wives, and their kids all sharing a home, taking care of his gran who had raised them with an iron fist until her mind started slipping, worse and worse with each passing year. although rafe had always been quite the rowdy child, constantly on the verge of being expelled from school, no one could say he was a bad kid, just a very naughty one. on top of that, despite the looming threat of expulsion always hanging over his head, he would always be one of the top students, a saving grace that would always stay hands from derailing whatever future they saw for the young boy.

chapter 2 ( the system is done for ) : his gran put upon him that family is everything, family is the most important thing you'll have in your life, and even if he had nothing else, he'd have them. it's why she had raised her sister's son when she no longer could—the cousin rafe had only heard of from his gran, the one who went into the army to help his family. she always held out hope that he'd one day return to her, even if her own sons disagreed behind her back, and even when the government knocked on their door with the regret to inform them that their cousin had been killed in action, his gran wouldn't believe it. it's about the time her mind started to slip, her physical health slowly deteriorating with it.

chapter 3 ( bills to pay mouths to feed ) : when it was rafe's time to serve his country, he was an eighteen-year-old with top graduating scores, and he was quick to be promoted into logistics, overseeing the supply lines to the furthest edges of the european commonwealth, where the war with the middle-east for resources and their way of life was seemingly unending. of course, rafe didn't believe in whatever they were peddling, but it provided for his family, ever growing, but no matter how hard he worked, his family's dismal social and financial position wouldn't change. he'd always been a hustler, knowing how to get by with ingenuity, with his charm and smarts, and this would be no difference. he knew logistics, he knew numbers, he knew where danger zones in supply lines were, and he'd use that to his advantage to sell supplies intended for the front line to interested parties—not the ‘enemy’ so much, but third parties would be fair game.

chapter 4 ( too close to the wire ) : it went well for a while. a good while, in fact. it went well until it didn't. the commonwealth found out, and although his skimming on the side didn't really put a dent into their operations, he was proven to be disloyal to his government—rafe, of course, wouldn't deny that, but the argument is that the commonwealth never did shit for him or his family, so he never saw why he ought to do shit for them. his loyalty, ultimately, would be to his family and his family alone. the final nail in the coffin of that ‘loyalty’ he was supposed to have was the realisation that the commonwealth had lied to their family, finding out that that cousin that his gran, now bedridden, idolised wasn't killed in action at all. before he left the commonwealth with his best friend—the cousin he grew up with—rafe promised his gran he'd find him.

chapter 5 ( whereabouts unknown ) : he'd only left london a year before news came back to him that his gran had died. it didn't change his mission, of course. he'd make his way through the world with his charm and smarts as he always had done, using his knowledge of logistics and people's needs—whether they be rich individuals with particular wants and needs or whole corporations—to make the money to sustain him and his cousin on their search. a search which ultimately leads him to the east atlantic region. he'd been there no more than a few months when he manages to land the job as market officer, showing these government officials that he knows his shit, can move whatever they need him to move, and meantime use it as a platform to do whatever he needs to to fulfil his goal.
