Yesterday a doctor in my city got attacked with acid. My friend and i used to discuss this, that we stay polite to random men and try not to fight or agitate any man, even our friends or people who have approached us because being acid attacked is a genuine concern. But it was still something that was far fetched you know, like we knew the possibility of it happening but didn’t think it would actually ever happen and then it did happen. And then we all started googling on how to survive an acid attack, on how to be cautious, on how to interact with men.
It really did make me cry when I first heard about it, for that poor woman who spent all her life studying and working to help people and save lives, just for her to now fight for hers. It made me cry because all of us women now have another reason to fear going out, to fear men. How do you even know who will attack you, when they will attack you, you cant even do anything in that scenerio. This world is slowly becoming more restricted for women, we thought we had made progress, that it was getting better, but we are actually reverting back.
