Oppression olympics is built on ableism, queerphobia, and racism.

Having a disability doesn't prevent you from being ableist.

Being queer does not stop you from being queerphobic.

Being intersex does not stop you from being intersexist.

Being trans does not stop you from being transphobic.

Being a person of color does not stop you from being racist.

Having friends/family in a specific demographic does not prevent you from being biased against that demographic. Even if they haven't told you overtly that you are.

Honestly, all should be obvious just from the fact that internalized versions of all these isms exist.

So, I’m nonbinary, and a little while ago, my stepmother accidentally let it slip to my extended family that I use a different name and pronouns than the ones they’re accustomed to. 

Here’s the thing. You can not assume that because you know, everybody else does. Best case scenario. the kid just hadn’t had the chance to tell them yet, but was still planning to. Worst case, and this is my situation, they had a legitimate reason for not telling them.

Pride London is on Saturday. Whats also on Saturday? The World Cup Quarter Final and England are playing.

If you're going to Pride, PLEASE be careful. Drunk football fans en masse are dangerous assholes to be around and if (when) England lose, they'll be looking to take it out on someone or something. Pride attendees will be a likely target.

Be wary, be careful, stick together. And if you have to travel alone, as lame as it is, don't make yourself an obvious target.
