#queer polyamory

I’m looking to read something where people have a variety of different kinds of romantic attachments and non-monogamous relationship structures. But where the driving plot isn’t like, “oh my god! polyamory exists and is fine!” or like, the story of someone coming out as polyamorous or beginning to “practice the lifestyle” (hate that phrasing.)

Like I want a book where there’s maybe some polyamorous drama but it’s like, the side quest. And we’re not spending dozens of pages arguing about if it’s really possible to love two people at once (hello, Milan Kundera). And we’re not starting with polyamory as an answer to a dispassionate marriage.

You know? Like people having multiple relationships that are loving and flawed and the practice of polyamory itself isn’t some kind of exotic experiment on trial for moral virtue.

It's rare to find polyamorous representation in German books and also rare to find people who are in the public eye who openly talk about being polyamorous. So far, I only heard that about one German actor who talked about this in an interview. Recently, I stumbled across the actor and model Nico Tortorella (in the sitcom "Younger") and found out that not only he is queer and married to the nonbinary person Bethany C. Meyers, but also that they are polyamorous (and talk about this openly). And they had gender-nonconforming wedding clothes, which you can see in this Instagram post linked below (there are two photos of these in the slides). It gives me so much queer and polyamorous joy to see or hear something like this. 😍 And that is also because I don't know so many polyamorous folks in my everyday life. If you know any other celebrities who are openly polyamorous, please write me their names (and what they do as a job) in a comment, I'd love to know.
