Yeah, I actually thought the same thing. But I'm assuming that Alex has talked to Maggie about Kara, because Maggie knew her sister's name later. So that makes the most sense to me at least.

Alex has talked about taking care of her little sister to Maggie- in the coming out scene. In the bar scene Maggie says: you told Kara? So I'm assuming, Alex has talked about her and how close their relationship is. We just never saw it, which is a bummer!
yeah i guess thatās probably the best way to look at it, but still the fact that we donāt see that (and the show isnāt specifically saying ātell kara because she is the most important person in your life and she loves you no matter what and it is safeĀ to tell herā) is pretty important to the message that this conversation sends to the audience imo? like i feel like this all couldĀ have been perfectly fine but itās just the specific way it played out could very easily be interpreted as having some kind of not great implications
