If you do not own a BIRD this post may not be IMPORTANT but I suggest you try to pass this on because it may save a birds life. (I tried to hold the most important parts so you can skip the backstory and other details)

As of January 1st a rescue/ rehabilitation center for birds/ parrots in Michigan had the great tradgety of losing 11 birds because of food quality while 3 remain ill and the cause as of now is slightly narrowed down but still unofficial and I will try to update as anything is uncovered but I want to share what I know.

The three suspect foods:

Zupreem Fruitblend (more specifically the one aimed for larger birds but it doesn't hurt to be too safe) USE BY: 3/31/19 AND 2/28/19

Higgins Vitaseed (THIS INCLUDES THE PARAKEET AND COCKATIEL SEEDS) USE BY 4/5/19

Lefebern's Nutriberries USE BY BATCH CODE 122218B

Another rescue has experienced a similar issue and was using only the first two items on the list

Symptoms include:

Effects start about 4 hours in

BIRD becomes wobbly, disoriented, weak

Wings droop, vomit a copper red substance, seizures then death

I not only share this because if someone hadn't said something Willow and her rescue could have been affected, but because this is normal everyday food BIRD OWNERS swear by. I am by no means trying to look down upon the companies I am simply trying to spread the word so no one has to come home to find that their BIRD has suffered because of a food they trust.

It has 100% been confirmed that this was a food related cause so all I ask is that if you feed any of these to your birds, please check the dates. If you BIRD has been alright then there is no need to panic!!!!!!!
