This is just an overall song for Taran, who spent his life imagining exploring and going on adventures outside of the small farm he lived on out in the country. 

2. The Feeling You Get When - The Hoosiers

You sent the sun round the earth Made me feel twice what I'm worth

These are literally the only lyrics to this song and they perfectly encapsulate how Taran feels about Eilonwy (as a friend or more who knows?)

3. Head Above Water - Daryl Hall & John Oates

I'm holding my head above water It's so hard to keep my head above water Head above water It's so hard to keep my head above water

This song is here just for the fact that it’s something Taran grew up on. Thanks to his dad he probably has the entire Hall & Oates catalog memorized, but this is a personal fave.

4. Take It Like A Man - Legally Blonde the Musical 

God, I love shopping for guys! Okay this is strange. Watching the change right before my eyes. Don't watch me change.

Just because I feel like the entire scenario in this song would be Taran and Eilonwy if she could ever successfully drag him to the store to get new clothes

5. I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles) - Skylar Astin (cover of The Proclaimers)

And when I'm dreaming well, I know I'm gonna dream I'm gonna dream about the time when I'm with you

Alright, now, where do I start with this one? There is a reason I picked this version of the song instead of just the original or any other cover. The first part is very upbeat and closer in styling to the original version. In this part he talks about being the person to go out along with and to get drunk next to (you). While in general the whole song is about someone who has feelings for someone else, this first part feels very reflective of how Taran feels about Eilonwy as a person on the surface. Eilonwy’s the person he likes being around the most.  She’s his best friend and he wants to be that person in her life forever. 

Then in the second half things change. It’s slower and more personal and sounds like someone pouring their heart out to the other person. This part of the song is reflective of how Taran feels about Eilonwy deep down. Past the denial and the insecurities and the feeling that Eilonwy deserves so much more than him.

There’s no better way to start a playlist than a generally themed song for its muse and those close to him.

2. Oxford Comma - Vampire Weekend

Who gives a fuck about an Oxford comma? I've seen those English dramas, too They're cruel So if there's any other way To spell the word, it's fine with me With me

Tobias is a creative writing major who has to take a lot of English and writing classes, so of course I had to put this song on his playlist...also because Ezra Koenig has said that the song is more about ‘who gives a fuck?’ than an oxford comma, which also feels very Tobias when it comes to a lot of things.

3. Lost Boy - Ruth B

I - do I even need to explain this one?

4. In the Blood - Home Free (cover of John Mayer) 

I can feel love the I want, I can feel the love I need But it's never gonna come the way I am Could I change it if I wanted, can I rise above the flood? Will it wash out in the water, or is it always in the blood?

Despite the appearances he puts up, Tobias is constantly questioning his worth to other people. Due to being given up or back multiple times up until later teenage years by people that decided they didn’t want him anymore he has never seen himself as good enough or being someone worth someone else’s love. (not to mention his fear of repeating family history despite never having actually met his birth parents. alongside not wanting to lose Peter, this is a major factor in his not wanting to grow up.)

This song’s been a favorite of mine for a while, and it gives me Felix vibes.

It’s the end credits song from Wreck-It-Ralph so, kind of a gimme.

This man works too hard.

4. Lie Down - Dome Dwellers

This man works way too hard. Fun fact, the lead singer of this band is a family friend.

I added this one as a joke mostly but the verse quoted below kind of hits.

This one was definitely added as a joke. He is incredibly bisexual though.

1. Only A Memory

This song is Cody towards McLeach, while what happened to him was incredibly traumatizing, it hasn’t destroyed him. As he’s gotten older he’s worked to move past what’s happened to him. 

2. Brave Shine

Cody’s thoughts on who he’s become after the incident and how hard he’s worked to overcome it. He wants to be strong for the people in his life and keep them safe, though he does understand there are limits to what he can do. 

3. You Will Be Found

This song has the general vibe for how Cody has felt having a proper support system in place. With everyone in his life helping him relearn how to be around people and feel less anxious. Thanks to everyone he’s never really felt alone in his trauma. 

4. Rising

Penny is his closest friend and one of the few people who actually understands what he went through. With her he believes they can both grow past this and move forward with their lives. He knows she has big dreams and he wants to do all he can to support her.

5. Light

This song has the vibe for a group of people coming together to move past all the darkness back into the light. Which is how Cody feels around @detectivenewhart, @detectivegabor, and @littledetectivepenny.

simply put this is a song about Mabel and how Dipper feels about his twin.

of course my science boy is gonna have a song with science references in it. 

3. Coming Clean - Green Day

Seventeen and strung out on confusion

This song is literally about questioning your sexuality/coming out of the closet, and Dipper has definitely been questioning whether or not he’s attracted to boys the same way he is girls. 

4.The Mothman Song (Believe in the Power of the Mothman!) - The Paranormal Song Warrior

1. Chip On My Shoulder

So this song is mostly related to Bernard’s backstory, he worked two jobs in addition to class while in college. Everything he does is related to making his mom proud and trying to be the man she wanted him to be. He has a chip on his shoulder from growing up in poverty with her but he’s worked hard to make sure all her sacrifices for him were worth it.

2. Gold

The lyrics are a bit on the nose, while Bernard knows he has strong feelings for Bianca, he can’t quite pinpoint how far they go. It took him a while to realize how much he’s grown to care for her, but when it did it just hit him one day. He almost ended up blurting out what he was thinking before he ended up going back to his lunch opting to show his affections in his actions. @detectivegabor

3. Home

A song from Bernard’s view towards three of the people in his life he feels most responsible for. He’s never lied to either of the kids letting them know recovery would be hard but he’d be there for them in whatever way they needed him. It also goes over well on how home for him is whenever he’s with one of them. 

4. Good To Be Alive

There was a time when Bernard believed he was the worst thing that had ever happened to his mom. She of course did not hesitate to correct him, that together the two of them have made it through so much because they had each other. Song is from her point of view highlighting how much having her son around helped keep her going in life. 

5. Dynamite 

Bernard’s former fling now friend, the relationship was like a firework. It burned bright and quick before fading away. He cares about Felix a lot, but at the end of the day with where they were in life and what they agreed to Bernard kept himself from fully opening up to him. At this point he’s just hoping they can actually stay friends this time. @icanfelixfixit
