never thought i’d fall for period drama stuff but omg. the artful dodger is such a perfect show the story beats are on point the paternal bullshit with fagin is so good and has great payout at the end and the romance has the right amount of build up and then the devastation is SO UNEXPECTED and the realism! (spoilers) what do you mean she’s skilled enough to know she needs heart surgery but male egos stop her from getting proper care and she knows she needs to find someone good enough to save her?? and when she meets him she keeps quiet and he gives her access to the field she’s always dreamed of working in? and when she finally tells him she’s dying and needs surgery he doesn’t want to do it because he could KILL her but he tells her he will try because she asks him to? so he invents a new technique because she just can’t die? AND THEY TRYTO ARREST HIM BUT HES ALREADY STARTED SO HE DOES THE SURGERY WITH A GUN TO HIS HEAD???? and they slap chains on him drag him out hands soaked in blood and he shouts again and again is she breathing? ???? what the fuck did i just experience
