Craig was scared. He didnât know where he was- all he saw was darkness. He could see the faint outlines of a room, but all he could hear was.. laughter. Laughter of multiple people, laughter of men standing over him, distorted in many ways, of white grins on their faces.
Right.
This was college.Â
This was initiation. He had never been more scared in his life, having been forcefully grabbed from his bed and wrapped in his bedsheets, unable to know where he was going. The next sensation he felt was the cold seeping through his bed sheet as he was dropped rather painfully on the floor. Candles everywhere, paddles, knives..Â
The next thing was pain. He saw the blood dripping from his hands, the way he felt so exposed and they all silently sat there, judging him for each and every imperfection that he had. He wasnât perfect enough for them, but he wanted to be in so badly, wanted brothers.Â
Craig was thrashing about, trying to get out of the room. He couldnât handle the burn of wax on his back, the cuts at each and every imperfect thing. And then he heard a voice. A voice that wasnât like the ones around him. He could see the knife coming down and his eyes squeezed shut, ready for the pain, and then they were open, seeing Dresdaen, screaming at him. It took a moment, Craig staring at the other with wide eyes. Where was he?
He looked around, panicking as he tried to reorientate himself into this reality.Â
âD-Dres...?â His voice was so shaky, so soft- a voice that was never heard from Craig.

>Well. The bad dream. You have other dreams that make you worry, dreams where Sunzuuâs gills stop working when he teaches you to swim. Dreams where Karkat is chained to a post, bleeding and broken and sobbing and youâre just watching like a coward. Dreams where you fade out and they move on without you, so easily you might never have been there.
This isnât that. This is the only dream you have when youâre worried. This is you, clutching a weapon, running through a field strewn with bodies, chasing the back of Cherin, following your partner, to the ends of this planet as well as the others. You feel alive.
She falls, first to her knees, then fully to the ground. You scream, sprint over, but something, a rock? something, hits you, square in the center of your forehead. Blood-thinned paint drips down your face as you struggle towards her, whichever of her is the real one, the one you can feel, the one with eyes as indigo as yours and sharp, small horns pointing out at the sides, the one you kissed once before landing.
Someone grabs you, ignoring your protests, and drags you into a ditch. You canât focus, canât look up. You feel sick. Cherinâs dead, they say. You didnât see it for yourself. She canât be.
The hospital is next. Your body is hot, wracked with fever, and theyâd shoved a puck between your teeth to keep you from biting. Your wound is infected. These medicullers are both jadebloods, their eyes are cold, they look at you and frown. They say youâd die if you stayed with the Church. They say your face was going to kill you.
At least, this time, you wake up before they treat you, you sit straight up shaking and sweating, clutching at the sheets, pillows, anything solid. You feel like youâre going to puke, everything is too bright and the lights are all off and you need something, Sunzuu, water, anything. Anything that isnât in the past and doesnât make you think of her and doesnât make the scar under your paint itch.
Felix has extremely well regulated temper problems. Suffice to say, his bodyâs reaction to stress is almost certainly Fight.
This is partially due to parental influence, as he learned early on that anger is productive. Anger is the only thing that gets things done.
Pair this with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, which varies by verse, but at any rate a disaster happened to him, sort of breaking him and making Hypervigilance the default.
He twitches. He has a hard time resting. Heâs always looking out for danger.
But, he actively chooses to be a nice person. Or a Good person.
Thereâs a bit of guilt and shame at his own gut reactions, and often, by the time it translates to the external world, leads to a very soft and subtle fawning gesture. Most people âdonât deserveâ his rage. He makes a point to treat people decently...though there are tells to his stress. A thousand yard stare, and a general desire to disassociate and ponder the universe.
But, when cornered, properly provoked, or feeling truly, trustingly safe, the truth is just underneath; He will not lie to you.Â
