"...I wasn't planning to," Clair huffs with her usual air of indignation, rising from the low table in Will's Elite Four quarters. "No matter what your all-seeing powers tell you, my destiny rests in my own hands." (It's a prideful response--predictable as it is stubbornly childish.)

Still, the Blackthorn Gym Leader lingers with a sigh, wringing her gloved hands as she peers down at the masked man. "There's no way for someone to accurately predict the future, surely," she reaffirms with a self-assuring nod. "Our futures are determined by how we carry ourselves, the company that we keep, and the choices that we make. You agree, don't you?"

Clair looks at Will expectantly--as if looking for comfort--and she can't help but offer him the smallest of smiles. Underneath his layers of silliness and incessant pranking, the Elite could be quite fun to talk with.

✧ Ecruteak, the city where the past meets the present. Riley made a point of stopping by anytime he was in the region --- Sir Aaron always enjoyed seeing the familiar landmarks, the food there was seriously delicious, and... it was still one of the best places he’d found for doing research on the mysteries of the ancient past.

Which was why he had once again ignored every warning sign and ventured deeper into the “dangerous” Burnt Tower. He knew how to avoid pitfalls and keep wild Pokemon away, so his exploration had been pretty uneventful.

Still nothing. He sighed, turning over a bit of broken pottery. It didn’t ring any bells, though --- too bad. Someday, we’ll figure out what happened.

He was still pondering the pottery shard when he heard a board squeak nearby, and sensed a new presence. Human, this time. Another trainer who had ignored the warning signs...? Or perhaps one of the site’s caretakers rushing to help a poor lost tourist...?

Grimsley: *Trying to subtley stretch his shoulder.*

Surge: "Could you stop that it's distracting."

Grimsley: "Tell Karen to stop pinning me to walls when I teasingly flirt with her then....although actually don't it's sort of fun to see how riled up she can get."

Surge: ".....you what?"

Grimsley: "I can't tell of your face is going red from blushing or anger, and that scares me so I'm going to leave."

(It's from both. One cause Grimsley 'flirting' with Karen not aware it's platonic and 2 cause he'd like to be pinned to the wall.....respectfully. 😳)

Will: "Its a shame you don't fight with your fists much."

Lucian:"What why?"

Will: "Karen's main love language is like violent affection? Like a playful punch to the arm is her main way of flirting, and when she spars with someone she likes well the energy is usually a bit more....I don't know if confident is the right word but something like that."

Lucian: "....Didn't you tell me she excelled as a femme fatal on Rocket missions."

Will: "That's called good ✨ acting ✨. Her genuine flirting is a silent train wreck with internal panic. When sparring with the person she seems to work some of that out."

“Did you hear what he said?”

“No I wasn’t close enough, but she looked scared. I mean horror movies wish they could instill that kind of fear in someone. Bruno blocked the view before I could see any more though.”

“Karen scared? That doesn’t even sound possible from what I’ve heard about her.”

“Who knows....then again the Kanjo league is kind of...um...hard to read.”

“You have no idea. They have such sketchy history pretty much everyone has a hard time telling what’s rumor and what’s real. The whole glass though-”

“I know it shattered in her hand, and she didn’t even flinch! Pieces suddenly hit the floor after that shatter, and her hand was bleeding. I saw Koga head over there, I hope she’s ok.”

“That’s what’s so surprising. Someone that strong, as scared as you say? It’s hard to believe.”

The whispers behind Will at a table seemed blissfully unaware that he was there. They may of been talking in hushed tones, but with the music mingling with other voices it was hard to keep anything too quiet. The table behind him thus far had been carrying on regular conversation. It was when a new voice came over to talk to a friend starting with the comment,’did you see what just happened with Karen?’ that the conversation had shifted to what it currently was. 

“I know, and I don’t know what Pryce could say anyway. I mean he’s a strong trainer and intense at times, but I can’t picture him saying anything that’d cause that reaction.”

“I don’t know the ice type gym leaders well, that’s more your department.”

“Of course, about ice pokemon and such. He’s helped me too with some techniques. That’s why I think this is so weird, and I guess I’m just trying to rationalize it.”

It made sense for her to interact with him. Candice from Sinnoh, another ice type trainer. Her company, Gardenia listening to her friend with open hears as they talked. The darker haired gym leader kept nervously glancing at the door way where she saw Bruno and Karen go only to have Koga hurry there shortly after. Genuinely she was worried how deep that glass had sunk hoping that they were able to patch the wound up without having to worry about any stitches. 

“Where is Pryce now anyway?”

idk if this is really an unpopular opinion, but……i think, at some point, people need to calm the fuck down. yeah i get really offended and steamed by some stuff that i see in the media. many people do. it’s just natural. but at the end of the day i don’t center my entire life around being angry at drama over fiction--i’m looking for a job, i’m writing a book, i’m learning how to drive, i go to toastmasters regularly, i’m getting a TEFL certificate. contrary to popular belief, i don’t always get into fights with people over whether something is racist or otherwise prejudiced. it’s not always an argument i want to have since there are things to worry about in my actual real life other than, say, that one asshole i saw who said that she would support lotor’s unethical experiments if he did them irl……as terrible as that is.
