Yang waved at Ruby excitedly. "Ruby! Over here! I saved you a spot!"

Ruby jogged over, a pair of students following her. Yang scooped her up in a hug, feeling a little guilty for leaving Ruby alone so abruptly that morning. "How's your first day goin', little sister?"

Ruby kicked and squirmed a little until Yang sat her back on the ground. "You mean since you ditched me and I exploded?!"

"Yiikes. Meltdown already?" Yang didn't know if she'd ever forgive herself if Ruby had had an actual meltdown already. Her baby sister was sensitive! The girl who followed Ruby over spoke up.

"No, she actually exploded. There was an incident with some dust." Her voice was even as she spoke, but Yang ignored it in favour of grabbing at Ruby's shoulders and checking her over for injuries.

"Oh shit, Ruby, are you okay? What happened?"

Ruby's eyes filled with tears and her voice pitched higher. "There was fire and lightning and- and maybe some ice? And a really crabby girl -"

"Weiss Schnee."

"Yeah, Weiss Schnee, and she kept yelling and I just wanted her to stop and -"

"YOU!" screeched a new voice. Ruby jumped hard and backed into the dark-haired girl. She sat a steadying hand on Ruby's shoulder and glared at the new addition to their group, presumably Weiss Schnee.

"Oh Brothers, it's happening again!" Ruby wailed.

"You almost blew us off the side of the cliff!" Weiss yelled. "And you," she snapped at -- Damn, Yang still didn't know the girl's name -- Ruby's friend. "How dare you embarrass me like that in front of this- this- this child!"

Alright. Definitely time for Yang to step in. "Aaaaalriiiiight. It sounds like you three might have gotten off on the wrong foot. Let's just all take a deep breath and calm down, okay?" She breathed in deeply and smiled at each of them in turn until they relented and also took a breath. "Okay, how about we introduce ourselves? I'm Yang, Ruby's older sister! And the little one is obviously Ruby."

"Hmph. I'm Weiss Schnee."

"...Blake."

"I'm Jaune!" the boy who'd come up with Blake and Ruby finally piped up.

"Alright, well let's all try to be friends, okay?" Ruby brightened up at the mention of "friends".

"Y-yeah! I'm super sorry Weiss, can we start over? We can go shopping for school supplies together! Or- or talk about dust and weapons! You're probably super knowledgable about which types of dust are suited for what weapons, right?"

Yang watched Blake watch Ruby as she grabbed at Weiss' hands. Weiss scoffed at her. "No way. I'll forgive you for this morning, but stay out of my way! I'm not here to make friends." She flicked her ponytail over her shoulder and stormed away.

"Oh...okay..." Ruby whispered.

Jaune sat a hand on her shoulder and smiled. "Hey, I'm still your friend!" he said. Ruby smiled a little and nodded. Blake reached out and sat a hand on Ruby's other shoulder.

"I'll be your friend, too, Ruby."

Yang swept all three of them into a hug. "Awwwwww! Rubes you already made two friends! I'm so prouuuuud of youuuuuuuu!"

Winter: Well you are just adorable.

Neo: *keeps eating her ice cream*

Winter: Mind if i join you?

Neo: *still eating her ice cream*
