Qui-Gon doesn’t take Obi-Wan as his apprentice in Bandomeer. But Xanathos does and Obi becomes a proto-sith. Skip forward on the timeline, to the Naboo invasion, Qui-Gon isn’t assigned to that mission (cause that’s a mission for a Master/Padawan team and he’s solo). They still end up in Tatooine, but those jedi are more conservative and - despite recognizing Anakin’s potential - they dismiss him for being too old. Because of that, Anakin isn’t in Naboo to take the droid ship down, the battle of Naboo lasts considerably longer and many more people die, causing Padmé to become desillusioned about the Galactic Republic (“It’s their fault. My people died because they didn’t want to help us.”) Skip forward again, to Attack of the Clones time period and you have: -A pair of proto-siths that ressent the Jedi Order like a plague -Two Separatists factions - one lead by Dooku in Serenno and one lead by Padmé in Naboo (they don’t work together because of Reasons) -Anakin Skywalker, leader of Tatooine’s Slave Uprising Eventually they end up teaming up together. Anakin’s main goal (freeing all the slaves) goes well with Padmé’s policies (she hates slavery) and Obi-Wan… Well, he’s mostly there because the Jedi are fighting against the Separatists and the other Separatist faction is being lead by an asshole (Dooku), so…
