A thing I'm learning to appreciate about my niblings is how arbitrarily they use pronouns. He/She/They/It, those words may as well mean the same thing to them, it's both annoying and delightful!

hi. i think i'm a trans male. i don't have body dysphoria though. i want people out in public to look at me and say "hello sir" not "hello ma'am". i want people to view me as male and use he/him pronouns. but i don't want to change how i look. i don't want to bind, but if i don't people will view me as female. in short, im really confused. help?
Tobi: Gender identity is something really difficult to wrestle with and I commend you for coming to find help and reassurance. I canât tell you whether or not youâre a trans male, but I can tell you that wanting to be referred to with âmaleâ pronouns, usually indicates that you could be. Gender dysphoria isnât a requirement for being trans either, so the fact that you donât have any doesnât mean you canât be trans.
Gender identity is also separate from gender expression as well, so how you choose to portray yourself to society based on societyâs expectations for âmale and femaleâ also doesnât affect what you identify as. Sure, itâs difficult as all hell to not get the pronouns you prefer from strangers, but what helps me is knowing I can turn to my friends that accept me as I am and respect my pronouns. That, and I just have to remember that what people who donât know me outwardly see and assume, isnât me. Does that make sense?
