Pro Life = Anti Abortion, this we know. The debate on the right to have an abortion has been sparking flames. There’s a pro-life judge on the Supreme Court that we didn’t have a year ago, and this has encouraged policymakers in states like Georgia and Alabama to make advances. New legislations are being made to prompt a case that could move its way up to the most powerful court in government. These efforts are all in the hopes of over-turning Roe v. Wade. The Hyde amendment was put into place following the Roe v. Wade decision, the amendment is the reason that people cannot receive abortions funded by federal monies, Planned Parenthood facilities have to prove that any abortion recipients paid for the procedure themselves and that no federal monies given to Planned Parenthoods were used to pay for such a procedure. This is in al cases except for abortions deemed necessary in order to save a woman’s life who cannot pay for the procedure. Pro Life Americans felt that their tax dollars should not fund what they believe to be murder. Presidential candidate Joe Biden was recently asked about his stance on the Hyde amendment, being a catholic Biden responded that he supported it. Presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren explained her opposition to the Hyde amendment. The amendment dealing with federally funding the procedure means it will only affect the chances of having an abortion if you cannot afford it. No matter what happens in the Supreme Court or elsewhere, wealth can buy you an abortion, as it did before Roe V. Wade. Now, here’s the catch for supporters of the Hyde amendment; if you feel that your tax dollars should not pay for abortions, due to the belief that you’d then be funding murder, how do you feel about your tax dollars that fund capital punishment. Or your tax dollars that have funded wars, or your tax dollars that have been used as hush money for child molesters. Imagine this: your tax monies being used to legally protect a politician from persecution, but the child they’ve molested cannot receive the medical help they need due to the Hyde amendment? Recent legislations have prevented children who have been impregnated by means of rape and molestation from having an abortion. So tell me, are we really saving babies, of we are forcing children to birth them? And, aside from that, if you don’t want your money going towards murder... how can you support military? A fairly large chunk of your tax dollars go into funding the building of war machines, the things that kill people. But to be anti-military is to be Anti-America. So here’s our paradox: are you Pro Life or are you Pro America? If you look at our history, you have to make a Choice.
