A few years back, during the Galar Gym Challenge’s off season, a special exhibition match was planned between undefeated champion Leon and a famous trainer from the Alola region called the Masked Royal.

Fans were EXTREMELY excited for the match. Both Leon and the Masked Royal had plenty of fans across the globe. And there was a lot of interest in seeing a battle with a trainer from Alola, since the region had just gotten its own Pokémon league.

Unfortunately, the match didn’t go as planned. The Masked Royal didn’t show up at all. Although, people did recognize the creator of the Alola League-- Professor Kukui-- in the audience. His wife had surprised him with tickets and travel plans to Galar to see the match. And she had absolutely insisted that he not leave her side for a single second, so that they could watch the match together.

Leon, on the other hand, just got lost. He showed up to the venue about 3 hours late. By that time, most people had left.
