Yay, prompts!!! How about 31 or 46 for DeanCas?
I did both! xD Hope you enjoy!
Dean finds him sitting at the edge of the roof, legs dangling high above the ground and stare directed into space in what is no doubt serious contemplation.Â
The roof has a pretty flat surface, but Dean wonât take any chances. He takes a deep breath and wills his heart to stop racing as he balances his way over to Cas. Just the knowledge that theyâre so far off solid ground has his head spinning, but he shoves the fear down forcefully.Â
âHey,â Dean announces his presence, as he carefully folds his legs to sit next to Cas, though a little farther away from the edge than the angel and mindful not to look down. If he doesnât acknowledge where they are, or so Deanâs logic, he can pretend theyâre not actually challenging the laws of gravity.Â
Cas turns his head at him, checks him for any signs of distress with a cursory glance. When he doesnât seem to come up with too bad news, he asks, âHow did you find me?âÂ
Dean rolls his eyes. âPlease, Iâve known you for some time now. Give me a little credit,â he says. âFresh air, birdâs eye view, secluded from anyone else⊠Where else would you go when youâre pissed?â
âIâm not pissed,â Cas corrects, a long sigh leaving his lungs. âIâm embarrassed. I ruined your evening.â
Heart swelling, Dean canât help it, he has to draw closer and pull Casâ back against his chest. âYou didnât ruin anything,â Dean assures.
He arranges them so that his thighs bracket Cas and his arms hold him secure. This way, Deanâs not sitting too far in the danger zone and he has a good grip on Cas should he for some reason stumble forward. If itâs more a comfort for Dean than any real precaution for Casâ safety, only the two of them will know.Â
Taking whatâs offered, Cas leans back against him, resting his head on Deanâs shoulder so he can look up at him ruefully. âI was being awkward,â he insists. âSorry that I donât fit in with your group of friends.âÂ
âAw, come on, it wasnât that bad.â Dean rubs a thumb back and forth, draws patterns on the back of Casâ hand. âDonna thinks youâre charming!âÂ
âDonna likes everyone,â Cas points out. âI definitely heard Alex refer to me as an idiot at least once. She was whispering it to Benny, but she forgot my hearing is above the human average.âÂ
âAlex is a teenager. Theyâre generally brutal, that doesnât count,â Dean argues.
Glaring up at him through his lashes, Cas counters, âI asked Bess if going through two different monthly cycles was all too bothersome.âÂ
âOkay, yeah, that was weird,â Dean admitted, stifling a laugh that wouldâve been pretty counterproductive in this scenario. âBut hey, sheâs married to a weirdo herself so Iâm sure she took it with humor.â Soothingly, Dean brushes a hand through Casâ hair. âAnd anyway: you may be an idiot but youâre my idiot. And everyone else just has to deal with it.â
Silent for a while, they watch as a bird flies to the top of a nearby tree and adds a little twig to its nest.Â
Then, tentatively, Cas asks, âIt wouldnât bother you if they donât like me?âÂ
Clutching him a little closer, Dean drops a kiss to his temple. âThey like you,â he says with all the certainty he has. âAnd if they donât, theyâre the idiots.âÂ
He looks at Cas until his stoic features melt into a subtle little smile. Until Deanâs mission is accomplished.Â
âWanna go back down now to face the gang?â
Shoulders slightly less slumped than before, Cas takes his hand and pulls them both up to a standing position. âYes.âÂ
His gait as he walks over the roof back inside is that of a man poised for battle.
