A few reminders as we get closer to the finale:
Those comments Rolin made about understanding the frustration and impatience of people who like Armand
The fact that he also said Armand gets a big chunk of episode 7
The praise for Assad as an actor — the insinuation that there are scenes where he gets to express a wider range of emotions.
The fact that we were told they are drawing from TVA, which we haven’t seen yet.
Armand playing the role of the presence Lestat and Gabrielle sense in Paris in this season . We were told certain things from the 18th century were being moved to present day and that definitely describes Armand’s role so far. This culminates in the book with us learning Armand’s backstory after he and Lestat meet. It’s brief in TVL, but again, we are drawing from TVA.
The very intentional choice by Rolin to point out that the screeners have an incomplete arc. They do not know what he’s up to. He’s said it multiple times.
IWTV finales are known for their big twists that recontextualise the entire preceding season.
Armand is going to be seen. Maybe by Daniel, maybe by Lestat, maybe by Daniel and Lestat, but if he is seen by a character, he will be seen by the audience too.
This is exciting. Don’t get weighed down by nonsense online discourse. This is such an exciting prospect. Let the people who hate him hate him. They always will. They’ve had a million chances to view him as complex and they haven’t. Let them be annoyed by his screen time, but most importantly, do not forget to enjoy yourself. Armand is finally going to have his day in the sun (not in a Memnoch way thankfully) and it’s only going to get better from there.
