do you have any headcanons about it

I once read an unfinished fanfiction about ftm prince regulus getting married to james and neither of them wanting it at first, it was one of the best thing of literature ive ever read and now i can't find it anymore because i read it 1 or 2 years ago and didnt remember the name so its lost in the depths of ao3. But I love that idea, i honestly dont have any specific headcanons, i remember another fanfiction though about demon james and prince regulus and i loved it, i think it was by damagecontrol but i could be wrong.

James being a notorious pirate who has travelled around the world and Regulus being a sheltered prince who's never see a life outside his castle and royal life.

Regulus is bitter angry with himself that he got so close to being the heir yet always second in life.

So he always takes out his frustration on the first person he sees.

So when the guards catch a pirate, nobody else other than James, and bring him in front of Regulus, what does the prince do?

He keeps him in the dungeons and overtime he gets fascinated by James's stories that travel him outside the castle and kingdom. Regulus starts to smile for the first time and it isn't a forced smile.

James gets captivated by the innocent looking boy who has such power and potential in his heart.

Regulus lets him go eventually, unable to bare the sight of such a pretty boy in the dirty dungeons.

And James gets protective, becomes his shadow and keeps away any dangers. He knows he shouldn't. Pirates shouldn't mingle with the royalty but he does anyway.

enter knights ser remus and ser james who are assigned to each brother, who are stationed at their doors every night and share the same chambers during their travels, to ensure no one could sneak through a window or a hidden door and hurt the princes.

Imagine little prince Reggie being out alone for the first time, having slipped away from the palace and landing himself on a playground. He didn't know anyone, so nobody wanted to play with him, but then appears James Potter and started playing with him. He never had so much fun even when they were throwing sand at each other. Cue Queen Walburga coming and ripping him from the ground, scolding him for running away and playing with "low folk" before just stalking away and Reggie looking back at James with a sad wave.

James, 12 years later, became Regulus' Bodyguard.

There are two reasons James decided to train for the bodyguard position. One - seeing Regulus being ripped away like that without any regard to what was going on haunted him in his dreams ever since. He couldn't forget the completely devastating look on his face. Two - He and his parents got punished for interacting carelessly with a royal. It wasn't allowed, after all. His parents could've prevented it, they said. Knowing that's what's going on just for someone speaking with Regulus, he didn't dare to think what would happen inside the castle.

Regulus didn't recognize James.
