They even included character designs for Selim and Mrs. Bradley. Gosh, he’s so sweet in this series! It’s a shame what happened to him.
Had to include a more menacing looking Bradley. I always felt it worked better in this series, not that Bradley wasn’t intimidating in Brotherhood, but I always got the sense that because the reveal was saved for so late in the series that his sudden shift to deadly was more unsettling.
A Few Thoughts on Pride
Early today I was rhetorically and sarcastically asked, "Why is 'queer joy' important?" by a troll looking to burn energy and waste time. However, the academic in me can't just look past an opportunity to teach. Even if the one asking questions chooses to utilize ignorance as a lifestyle and shield.
As a very boring straight white Christian man, I don't feel qualified to answer this non-question, but I will do my best.
We live in a world of uncertainty, with very little that we can depend on, and it feels like we are always a step away from destruction.
Considering that reality:
To draw breath, to feel the warmth of the sunrise, to feel the waves of music, to love, to be loved, to be alive, and to experience the wonders of this world are a reason for joy.
Faith, hope, and, most importantly, LOVE are all acts of deliberate rebellion against the atrophy of a dying universe.
So, why is "queer joy" important?
Why is Pride so important?
No one should live in fear simply because they are alive.
No one should be forced to apologize for being who they are.
No one should be hurt because they are simply trying their best to live in a broken world.
And most importantly, NO ONE should have to justify being alive.
Pride wasn't invented to make Republicans and conservative Christians sulk and be angry. Pride was a reaction against police attempting to punish people for the "crime" of being alive.
If weird and creepy conservatives could stop being obsessed with the genitalia and sex lives of other people, Pride would have never happened. Instead, they have themselves to blame because the natural reaction of anyone being oppressed is to fight. The natural response of those following Christ should be to rush to the side of anyone being harassed and harmed.
Christians who hesitate to love and support those of the lgbtqa+ community must study the Scriptures.
Generations of theologians have erred in assuming Christ is on their side when they fail to realize Christ is never on the side of the oppressors. I hope one day, more Christians realize how toxic and demeaning our traditions have been to the lgbtqa+ community. If, for some reason, you can't be an ally to this community, at least pray.
If you can't pray, then I politely ask you to get the Hell out of the way because God is found in Love.
No one has the right to dictate Love or who God loves.
I wish a happy Pride to those who are celebrating.
I wish allies to feel a more profound rage than we ever have about our loved ones being in danger. I hope we use this to motivate ourselves to fight harder than ever.
Because Love is Love is Love is Love.
What about Pride?
So in this case, I'm gonna go ahead & do both since FMA is wonky and has two different Pride's just like they have two different Sloths lol so here we go!
who? | only know their name | loathe | ugh | overrated | indifferent | dead | alive | just okay | cute | badass | my baby | hot | want to marry | favorite
Starting with Pride from Brohood/mangahood, he is pretty dang terrifying actually! For me I really don't enjoy the many eyes aesthetic, and he's got that ...literally everywhere lol. He is ruthless! And all the same danger alarms go off for me that do for Envy, so naturally I'm like "whoa whoa whoa you stay away sir!!"
It does NOT help that, he uh....tries to play Freaky Friday with my F/O in this canon...>>;;; ha ha...haaaa....I'd uh, sure hate to find out how that would translate in any AU [Totally lying through my Teeth here~! I live for angst]
For my S/I however, ignorance sure is bliss and thus...she only thinks he's but a child! Yeah my FMA S/I kinda operates under a series of nat 20s and nat 1s and I could definitely see her landing that nat 1 oh perception whenever it came to Pride. The Laine girl is quite adept at landing those nat 20s when she needs to though...!
And under a cut, the 'other' Pride.
