Ship related rant
The fact that there are haters for the ship secretintern, or really any of the animal hospital ships other than maybe like Harlow x Intern hate(for reasons based on implications in theories. but I don't have a genuine problem with it) Genuinely baffles me—NONE OF THE CHARACTER CLASSES HAVE CONFIRMED GENDERS, PERSONALITIES, OR SEXUALITIES AND ARE GROWN ADULTS????? there's genuinely nothing to hate each other for.
Does this mean you have to like every ship? hell no. I know for a fact that personally I am quite annoyed by head nurse x secret agent, but I'm not going to harass people or comment on any content of that ship "don't ship, sorry............" or "SECRETINTERN BETTER!!!!" or anything of the sort. Same with rant posts about how much you hate a ship—motherfucker, as much as you dislike something, there are A LOT of people who will feel ashamed for liking something just because you decided it you didn't like it and therefore it was inherently wrong.
I know that seeing ships you don't like can feel a little bit icky, but the AUDACITY some people have to say this shit ON CONTENT AND TAGS RELATED TO WHAT THEY'RE HATING ON?? All it does is piss people off and cause fights.
Again, absolutely NOT saying this just towards people who actively hate on things I ship or like, this applies to EVERYONE WHO DOES THIS. ANYONE WHO DOES THIS GENUINELY PISSES ME OFF.
Hating on things, and I mean GENUINELY spreading negativity into the environments of people who want to mind their own business, for no fucking reason other than being mad about a ship and being angry at people for liking the harmless thing you're mad about is so extremely unhealthy for both you and the people around you.
Ever heard the terms "Don't yuck my yum"? "One man's trash is another man's treasure"? "Agree to disagree?"
The only time these thing DO NOT APPLY is when something is or is being portrayed in a way that is genuinely problematic while being romanticized/made fun of, propetuating harmful stereotypes, or needs correcting. Shipping two adult character who don't even have a canon characterization—or even if the character is being mischaracterized—isn't actively infantilizing, romanticizing, erasing representation, or down-right sexualizing the character—IT IS NOT VALID TO HATE ON IT.
Still, you're allowed to not ship a ship or dislike it. Everyone has their own unique preferences, and we should respect that. Making a big deal out of hating something harmless is a different story.
Hating something that doesn't effect you in anyway that truly impacts you in a permenently negative way is how we ended up with bigotry, racism, ableism, homophobia, transphobia, and discrimination as a whole.
Grow the hell up, there are 5 year olds that grasp the concept of being respectful and being inclusive better than majority of you people who do this.
And if you feel personally attacked by this? that says more about you than it does about me.
We should have at least a little empathy in our communities instead of ruining peoples fun when the world is on fire and everyone is trying to find a bit of escapism.
Being respectful of peoples emotions and not trying to bring them down is the bare. fucking. minimum.
Is that so hard to do? Why is it so hard for some of you to mind your own business?
