It's easy to go to the dark side, but you can retrain your mind, your thoughts, your energy to a more positive path. If you don't open up to the idea of a different outcome then your thoughts are just replaying past impressions.

As soon as you "hear" yourself think the worse, become aware of the thought pattern and shift it to something that could go right. For example, "I bet it will rain all over my party" turns into "It could just be a passing shower" and eventually "The weather will be perfect on Saturday."

Whatever is going to happen will happen regardless of how you overthink it. But you staying hopeful, grateful and optimistic makes YOU able to handle the outcome better. Even if it does rain, your attitude about it will be much more conducive to a fun party!
