It's weird having dysphoria in a way that's not life ruining. like yeah I'd like to have a dingus. the more i think abt how ill probably never have one the more existentially upsetting it is. but my life is not really super different for it. I think I'll conclude my whining with this: I think that by focusing on romance and potential romance, hardcore Shinkane shippers are making themselves miss out on Shinkane's relationship. By focusing on "does this mean they will become romantically involved???" they are missing out on what their interactions actually mean about how they feel about themselves and each other. Also, being in this fandom is hell when you're aromantic - which I think is completely unfair because this narrative isn't pushed by the show. No matter how many people insist that "Kougami caring for Tsunemori is bait" rather than a real human emotion, I remain sure that regardless of whether they eventually become involved romantically or not, people are allowed to care about each other. I rest my case
I'm not posting this in the tags or anything because I don't. care about ships in the first place. for obvious reasons. and Shinkane is to me a completely inoffensive ship. What I am experiencing is frustration that I'm missing out on opportunities to exchange about the media I love because it seems so common to focus on something that isn't even there - I also feel insane seeing people view this show with a romance-first point of view.
I'm midway through Providence... Idk how to put words on it but like. When a certain character died, and Tsunemori was kneeling in shock next to them, a man placed his hand on her shoulder. And I cannot describe the RELIEF I felt when it turned out to be Gino. This would have been such a horrible moment for Kougami to get his slimy hand on her
read: I know they make up. I watched S3. In that moment, Kougami has yet to apologise, Tsunemori is not open to befriending him, and as such it would have been horrendous for him to feel this comfortable. I'm really glad the movie isn't pushing something forceful like that
Mostly, the reason this feels significant to me is how much Gino has become a representation of trust-- he is a right source for comfort, he is safe.
