Of course it couldn’t be different. She had to drop everything and come immediately, no questions asked. Well, she took her extendable bat from the closet, the phone was safe in her pocket her smartwatch would not scream for recharging the batteries for quite some time. She has left her home some four hours ago, her hood on, leather fingerless gloves as well and those incredibly comfy running shoes too. She was dressed as if she was to be deployed on some sort of a mission, but Tony only invited her for a second meeting with Avengers. Not so secret meeting, since she’d followed and crashed the last one. This time Stark showed up to pick her up in his Veyron, and as soon as she sat in shotgun, he pushed that accelerator hard as if it was a spider’s nest. He didn’t explain much. Just told her he needed an advantage in ‘brains’ department of the team; apparently there was ongoing dispute between the Soldier and Science Bros about some kind of weapon or some other shit - Kage wasn’t really in the know. She only was vaguely aware of the things going on the team; Fury hadn’t been very specific about that. Actually it looked like he didn’t really want to spill the beans and like he wanted Kage to stay the fuck away from them. Well, too late.
While she was there in Avengers Tower, she looked at so many algorithms and provided a few of her own to Captain’s disapproval. Come on, she didn’t mean to harm anyone, it was just a shitload of awesome data and by the look of it something really epic could be created from it. When she looked up after typing in one of longer lines of the program, Tony’s face was telling her one thing: he was proud. Not that she wanted him to, or something, it was just a nice change. It was one of the small things that would pile up on the side of points for trusting uncle Stark.
Aside from clearly stating which team she was on (dear Thor, was it THAT serious?), she spent some time actually getting to know that weird bunch of people. She couldn’t just help herself and she almost babbled doc Banner to death about her Transformer tech, which was still only an idea, but technically she could patent something is only she had access to Large Hadron Collider. Then Natasha joined them asking about what nerds are talking and then refused to hear what was that, winking at doctor Banner. So they switched topic to talking about weapons which was more comfortable field for all of them which lead to ladies comparing their batons and techniques. Weirdly enough, they became the centre of attention, for some reason. Suddenly no one else was speaking. Kage sought her uncle in the crowd of special people and found him pleased with himself, encouraging her to talk more. Oh dear Thor it was like she was a four year old girl her parents brought to family gathering to show off that little maggot.
The experience was pretty outlandish; the previous meeting Kage’d ‘attended’ was mostly about strategic stuff, while this one seemed like Tony’s whim just to show who is the real brain of the team. Everyone was more at ease once Cap admitted that the brains might be right. After that, they just chilled, she got to know legendary doctor Banner and great time with Natasha. She met Agent Barton; about that one she’d heard legends and now he was just a dude a bit too much obsessed with arrows. There was Captain America, but she didn’t really want to approach him yet, though they exchanged respects. Thor… well she knew Thor from before; they shook hands and he asked her about her new home. She of course invited him over and ever since she left the Tower in one of Stark’s vehicles, driven by Happy Hogan, she was basically praying to Odin so his son wouldn’t just pop in right away.
She had so much stuff to do at home. So many FedEx boxes were laying around, waiting to be emptied. There was so much dust to clean and cardboards to throw away. It looked like she would spend the next few hours just being a housewife which she despised to bits, but she needed a clean space to think and that was more important than just a feeling that was easy to shake off.
