The thing about POTS that no one really likes talking about out loud:
Poopy pre-syncope. The dookie-adrenaline-dump, if you will.
POTS already fucks with our digestion, so a lot of us tend to have an issue with bowel movements and consuming enough fiber to make them tolerable.
Do you understand how embarrassing and terrifying it is for your body to start having a medical episode mid-shit?
You start asking yourself questions like, "Is this something that justifies a 911 call? Do I have to explain to a paramedic that there's a crap hanging halfway out of my ass, that it won't move, and that I'm facing the risk of passing out on the toilet and hitting my head when I fall, with a crap hanging halfway out of my ass? Should I just not tell anyone and hope that no one finds me half naked looking like a corpse, mid-shit on the floor?"
Have you ever wondered what it's like to shit out one of the spiked metal balls on a medieval chain mace? Because that's what it feels like.
Your body is going into a flare, and you're just stuck. You can't lay down with the train only halfway out of the station, and standing up to get off the shitter is only going to make things worse. So it's basically just soft-core purgatory.
I'm not afraid of hell because I know what hell feels like. It's whatever the hell POTS does to bowel movements. Like what the fuck. Can't even shit without risk.
so I have POTS right
and I’ve been having more flare ups recently. A few minuets ago I just got up, walked for like five seconds halfway across my bedroom (which is tiny) and then boom. I kinda walk back to my bed and flop like a whale. Land face first in my pillow legs half off the bed, conscious but temporarily without control of my body. It lasted like 30 secondsish before I could move. It’s weird. Anyway I realized it’s like having random minecraft potions. Like all of a sudden I can’t see, there is only squiggle squaggles. I can’t move. Time slows down. I fall. I taught myself how to fall without hurting myself when I was like 6 long before I knew about pots. The point is, having pots is essentially randomly looking up and seeing
When POTS makes me feel like I'm going to faint because I dared to eat a meal and now I'm stuck in bed waiting for my heart rate to go back to normal

my phone doesnt have enough storage to actually make this meme so i'm dropping it here:
don't make me tap the sign.jpg but add "given that postviral POTS cases are once again on the rise" before the "don't make me tap the sign" part. also the sign is the screenshot of the medical literature (i think mayo clinic's POTS page maybe?) the one that reads "POTS can cause significant disability in previously healthy-seeming young people" or whatever it says. yes this is in regards to the comments i see every day in chronic illness groups/disability groups that are like. "am i really disabled enough by *just* POTS?" yes you are. it's not *just* anything when it's disabling.
P.O.T.S patient dismissed by another doctor again: I will not take this lying down!
Gets angry and palpitations start.
P.O.T.S patient: okay I'll take this lying down but I'm still not happy.
