Eshu is the large landmass, who’s name means “plains” in the language of the tribesmen called the Eshuan, or “men of the plains”. The continent is divided into five main regions, each populated by dozens of tribes of Eshuan with their own cultures and lifestyles to adapt to their environment.
The tribes started warring long ago, over resources in each other's regions, such as ores for weapons, lumber, livestock and silver. The fighting continued for decades, until Chief Koa’atar started a crusade for peace and diplomacy throughout Eshu. With the help of his young son Ko’akan, they fought many battles to ensure that peace. Now, the tribes’ chieftains recognize one Chief’s rule over each region, trade resources peacefully among one another, and maintain a thin balance, watched over by the Chieftains of the Eko tribe, starting with Koa’atar. Below we’ll take a brief look into the geography, people and culture of each region.
The Northern Tribes
Current Grand Chief: Ern’varni
Natural Landmarks: Efern, the vast forest the covers the region; the Verunit, a spring at the heart of Efern, the holiest spot in Eshu.

Unable to herd any substantial livestock or farm large crops like the rest of the tribes, the Northern tribes are hunters.
The Eferun have ruddy, russet colored skin, with silky dark hair, usually pulled back. They are longer and leaner than their southern brethren, able to leap through the trees or chase down swifter or larger prey. They use spear and bow and arrow to hunt, and tend toward guerrilla tactics in war rather than brute strength.
The Western Tribes
Current Grand Chief: Ser’navi
Natural Landmarks: The Narru River, the only body of water in the region; Mt. Karbiru, a barrier between Eshu and the Other Land.
Resources: ore, fire salt, livestock/meat, spices
Description: The Western region of Eshu is a harsh and rugged territory. The geography is comprised of steep hills, hardy, spiny plant life, and dry, desert like climate, and infamous for its barren soil.
The tribes of the West get all of their water from the only river running through the region, the Narru. They’re hunter-gatherers, keeping little livestock and unable to grow any crops.
The men of the West are hardy and rugged, with deep brown skin, coarse hair and thick bodies built to survive. They are fierce in battle, wielding large axes made of jagged ore and bone. They’re a hostile and warlike people, known for their conflict with the Southern tribes.
The Central Tribes

They are the wealthiest region in Eshu, being the central point of all trade on the continent, and are known for their vast, lush and fertile plains
They are a gentle people, known for their musical voices and large celebrations where they invite every tribe in Eshu. The Irobun have always campaigned for peace throughout the continent and remain neutral in tribal wars.
The Irobun are smaller and leaner than their fellow plainsmen. Because of their peaceful demeanor, they have no need for thick bodies or aggressive tendencies. They are fairer than the rest of the tribes, all with pristine light tan skin, brown or sometimes sandy blonde hair, and light colored eyes. Ko’s mother, Is’sana is from this region, being the daughter of the Isrori tribe’s chieftain, Kier’isar.

They keep little crops or livestock, relying mostly on the ocean and rivers for food. They’re excellent spear hunters, some say even more accurate with a spear than an Eferun with a bow, and have been long time allies with the Southern tribes.
The people of the East have red, sun kissed skin and brown-auburn hair bleached by the sun. They are the tallest of the tribesmen, even standing over the hardy men of the South, and are renown for their eyesight.
