one of the things that I find curious, is that they decided to remove the miscarriage scene in the finale. I have the feeling that they decided to move it for the next season, to then make a scene where dany finds out that she is pregnant immediately after that scene. or one where both lose their baby at the same time. what is your opinion? why do you think they omitted that scene in the finale?
Dear nonny, thanks for the ask. They left some scenes out, for example there obviously was a scene when Jon told Ghost to look after Sansa, when Sansa came to Bran in episode 7 to ask if she should trust Littlefinger or Arya, there was a scene of Daā¬nerys asking Jon to come to her cabin. And the miscarriageā¦.
I do think, that in general they left out scenes to further the ambiguity of the whole season. I think you can understand it best, if you think about that there is still one major plot twist coming, and this plot twist has to a) come as a surprise and b) must be obvious in hindsight. And they did this the whole season: for the Winterfell plot they threw characterisation out of the window for the one moment, when the audience might think that Sansa accuses Arya instead of Littlefinger. For the Wight Hunt they threw logic out, so that they could have a great dragon entrance - while they took the time to do a āBenjen ex machinaā so that Jon was saved by a Stark and not Daā¬nerys.
So, I think this was sadly a trademark of the whole season. I think it is crystal clear, that Cersei wonāt have another living child, but we canāt be entirely sure, and by leaving the miscarriage out, they leave one more thread dangling. Maybe they thought that they could come up with a scenario where Cerseiās miscarriage might further the plot. I think it is entirely possible that Cersei will miscarry when Daā¬nerys attacks Kingās Landing, thus adding personal drama to the overall drama of the downfall of the greatest city in Westeros. They might have postponed it to draw more parallels for Cersei and Daā¬nerys. Cersei and D might mirror each other or they might be juxtaposed. Cersei miscarrying - D realising she is pregnant. They might want to use Cerseiās miscarriage to foreshadow a miscarriage of Daā¬nerys. I think there are several options and from a point of view of somebody who wants to sell a show, they are all better than bringing this particular storyline to a conclusion.
In general, the show has visited several plotlines and not brought any of these threads to a conclusion, save two: Littlefinger is finally dead, and Jaime has finally caught up with his characterās development in the books. Other than that, they only have an alliance where the seeds of disruption are already sewn and the situation of the WW is actually far better now then it was at the end of season 6. It all furthers the speculation of the fans and the tension and this is what they want. They want us to discuss possible outcomes, they want us to stay hyped - And we dumb idiots do exactly what they want!
