New headcanon:
Coran and the paladins were friends.
He was obviously the closest to Alfor, having known him since they were both young. It was through Alfor that he got to know the other paladins.
He and Blaytz hit it off pretty quickly, even though Alfor had been really uncertain. The three of them caused all sorts of chaos together, much to the chagrin of literally everyone around them.
Trigel was kind of wary of him at first, especially his never ending enthusiasm, but they eventually became friends. No one really knew how.
Gyrgan and Coran cooked together, and most everything Coran made cause Gyrgan abject horror. They both enjoyed ganging up on and mercilessly teasing Alfor, who generally deserved it.
Zarkon just refused to talk to Coran for a long time. He was do incredibly used to not socialising with a class lower than him that Alfor and Coran being such close friends completely bewildered him. However, as he became the dad of the group, he bonded with Coran over Alfor’s inability to take care of himself.
Coran is absolutely heartbroken when Zarkon dies, and is horrified when he comes back to life and declares revenge on Alfor. The deaths of all the paladins weighs heavy on him, and he misses them dearly. They were some of his dearest friends. The betrayal of Zarkon, too, almost hurts worse.
