This manuscript is a conjugate bifolium from a pontifical, a liturgical book of services performed only by bishops, written on vellum in southern France in a transitional, Carolingian protogothic script. The bearded human face possibly represents God himself. It was written between 1075 and 1099 CE.

Pope Francis has ordered the elimination of papal secrecy in cases of child abuse by members of the clergy, thus attending to one of the claims of victims of child abuse.
With the new instruction, which will come into effect immediately, complaints, processes and decisions concerning such cases of abuse will not be subject to pontifical secrecy, as reported by the Vatican today.
